Default A "weapons-only" martial arts school?

Is there such a school that will teach you to fight using sticks like the enemy in this video?

(I only want to learn it mainly for show, but at a regular school I'd have to stay with for a few years to start learning anything like this..)

Eskrima is a Filipino martial arts (sticks and knives self-defense technic). The 2 modern movies that I could think of who uses that style are Matt Damon in all 3 "Jason Bourne" and Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible III".

    Check here

Filipino martial arts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eskrima and kali are the two main martial arts. kali is second to none for teaching fluidity of movement.

If you are interested suggest you look up any class under the banner of 'dog brothers'. Pretty intense training.

third that. It teaches weapons first then empty hand as the movements are essentially the same, you don't have to learn seperate systems.

That completely takes the point and pride out of everything.

doug, ive heard good things about philipeno weapons arts. but when you see guys on things like discovery channel doing all these movements before they slice through a watermelon or ballistics cadaver, come on. a buddy of mine, a blackbelt in karate with detailed knwoedge of chines sword fighting (like the samurais did) will even admit to it. just swing the thing. all that other stuff is for show.

ive never held a samurai sword but i'll guarantee that all my years of baseball, including playing at the college level, i could slice through a watermelon or whatever in one swing.

take a lesson from English bobbies.

Buy a shotgun and find your closest trap/skeet range....Von's bat is pretty good but I have a Semi-auto, 20 inch, collapsible butt stock, pistol grip, combat shotgun that can pump buck-shot with the best of them...For home defense it is all you will ever need
