    Default Re: slipping punches

At the gym where I box they teach us to stand with our backfoot against the wall with our guard up. My partner will throw continous left and right light jabs at my head and body, first I will catch the punchs as I see them coming in. After I'll keep my guard up but slip side to side avoiding the jabs. It will be daunting at first for your son but he will get used to it, dont be afraid to put a *little* power in the jabs just to remind him that it hurts if he gets caught, this will make him strive to miss more incomming punchs (But as he is your son not too much power hehe)

Lastly after he has got comfortable with the slipping tell him to put both his hands behind his back and try it again. All the time his back foot is against the wall so he cannot backup, his only chance is to slip the jabs without his guard. I got caught with a fair few punchs coming in with my hands behind my back but I learnt very quickly not to get hit.
