Default Question for those of you who are tattoo'd

Should I use A&D ointment in the first few days after getting my tat (I got one today)? Or should I just use a lotion throughout the healing process? The guy who did the tat just recommended using lotion, but I have a friend who does tats (he lives in a different city), and he recommends using A&D for the first few days and then switching to lotion. What has worked for you?

I used Vaseline Intensive Care Extra Moisturizing lotion. Worked great for me.

I was told to stay away from ointments like A&D, Neosporin, or petroleum jelly.

By the way, how did it turn out? I see you didn't let the nerves talk you out of it.

Sorry, but I'll have to pm you tomorrow on that other issue we talked about, I have been busy all evening trying to resolve it. I will update you later.

I picked up some Glaxal Base (which I think is only made here in Canada), which I was told to use. It's hypoallergenic, perfume-free, lanolin-free, non-greasy etc., but I noticed it has Petrolatum in it, which made me worry about using it. Like I said, my friend who does tats recommended A&D, but I've heard mixed reviews on it. I'll probably just stick with the Glaxal Base and hope it turns out fine. I've never had any problems with my tats healing before, so I assume the lotion will be fine.

Nah, I was nervous, but I always am before getting a tat, I never let it get in the way though. It went fine, I'm thinking of getting the artist to do some cover-up work for me as well. I have a giant slightly abstract/tribal devil/demon-type thing that my friend drew across my back, but since it's not really representative of the person I am now I think I'll get it covered.

Take your time in PMing me, there's no rush, it's just a strange situation; one I hope you can resolve in a way that is satisfactory for yourself.

Yeah, I know how it is before getting a tat.

Well we have a guardian angel looking out for us, and she got her lawyer involved on our behalf, and it looks like it should be resolved sometime tomorrow. At least I hope so.

All I have to say is, karma is a biatch! Once the truth gets out, all those responsible, will end up looking like backstabbing, crying little biatches!

They'll get theirs. One of them already has, in a way.

I have several. I quite like them, and I love the process of getting tattooed, but I'm a bit strange.

I like all the tattoo TV shows but how much of a groupie would I be if i let that determine if I want one or not? I go on BMEink.com a lot just to look around, I like something every other day. My brother has both his arms almost completely covered but I don't think my first would be on my arm.

What are yours? if you don't mind sharing

I have 4. I have a design representing loyalty on my left forearm near the elbow that will soon have a portrait of one of my moms dogs beneath it. It was my first tat, my mom got it for me as a gift after a somewhat drunken discussion we had one night.
I have a giant abstractish devil/evil creature on my back, it was a drawing that my friend did that I loved. I'm thinking of getting it covered up because it not really representative of myself any more. I talked the guy who did my tat today and he thinks he could cover it up with a mask or the face of an animal like a lion.
On the outside of my right calf I have a picture taken from a book on WW2, it's a picture from one of the many shell-torn landing beaches. A soldier equipment (A grenade, a box of ammo) and the debris of war are scattered around and there is a make-shift "rifle-cross" grave where a soldier has died.
The one I just got on my right inside forearm is one of the Nazca lines drawings. It's representative of both my mom (and a few specific memories related to her passing) and of archaeology, which, as a component of anthropology, is one of the two degrees I'm persuing. As well, it is of a bird that had great spiritual significance for indigenous peoples throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Cocoa Butter, it keeps the color better and works just as well at moisterizing. They used to tell you to use Neosporin but on my last tat, I was instructed to use Cocoa Butter
Guess which tat the color isnt fading from? Ive had it for 2 years and the color still pops on it

I've heard about Cocoa Butter, apparently it's great. I've also heard nothing but great things about the stuff I'm going to be using, called Glaxal Base.

I don't know how I'm going to sleep with this huge fucking bandage wrapped around my arm though .
