hey buds American Psycho was playing tonight on HBO and i havent watched it in ages.

forgot how great this movie was!

remember the scene where he's talking about Phil Collins while he's demanding sexual acts from the two high class escorts? LOL

he was like giving a lecture on phil collins and demanding like new sexual positions from the sluts lol.

i guess u have to see it to know what i am talking about

but i had a question for those of you who remember this movie

1. at the end he's on the phone and hes confessing to all the multiple mass murders he committed. and the person on the phone laughs at him saying he's just joking and he must be just putting him on. now was christian bale really imagining that he did kill all those people? or was he just fantasizing? or did those murders really happen?

i never figured that out.

2. if anyone on this forum studied psychology or better yet was a psych major?

can you diagnose what christian bale had? and what triggered him to go psycho? based on what the movie provides obviously.

for he was really wealthy and successful so that obviously doesnt fit the norm for a psycho killer?

Man you should read the book... if you think he went on about Phil Collins a fair bit in the film, there is about 2 chapters of him purely talking about Phil in the book !

I dont know what was real and not in the film, the only evidence that he was actually imaginng things was given away in the "Feed me a kitty" bit at the cash machine.

I am half way through the book so maybe will have some more answers for you soon =]

Do a degree your missing it,he's been so dehumanized by the kiss ass corporate life, that he needs to do it to others. So while he's taking it all day, he fantasy life involves giving it to others as it were. And just like in his life,its so screwed up now, it has to be all about him, so rather then concentrate on the act at hand, he yammers about music

You're confusing two different scenes. Bateman left his lawyer a message on the phone and then at the party the guy commented on how he was putting him on.

I've never determined exactly if the stuff he did was supposed to have actually happened, but I would guess it didn't. He was a guy given in to fantasy and he was unchecked. He was a rich daddy's boy who'd had everything handed to him and his brain was just spawling because he'd had nothing meaningful in his life. Think about how the bad things ramped up in the movie. First he has the skanky prostitute and the high-class escort and then he eventually kills the skank and his friends girlfriend (dropping a chainsaw on the hoe's head, no less), he chops up the guy with an axe and then he gets into a shootout with the cops, blows them up with a magic bullet, kills the nightguard and shoots some woman on the street. And none of this was reported in the news? It is more likely that these were only thoughts in his head, although I don't understand why he could imagine killing all these people and not the gay guy who freaked him out in the restroom. So that's why I say I think it was fantasy, but I'm unsure at the end. And maybe that's the point. Maybe we're not supposed to know because HE doesn't know. He's lost his rudder and is unable to distinguish reality from the fiction of his mind. And because real or imagined, no one has stopped him, he sees no reason not to continue by movie's end.
