    Default jab right cross

I always thought i was supposed to aim for the exact same spot on the heavybag for 1-2 jab right cross combination however since looking at the teddy atlas number system this would suggest otherwise,So which is the correct way,can anyone explain?Teddy Atlas

I think Scrap has got it spot on just do it whatever way you feel comfortable, just aslong as you get those hands back up quickly. This is my favorite combination and i often throw left hook after the jab, right hand, combo, because i seem to get a lot of good leverage and power into left hook after throwing that combo.

If you want to learn how to do this combo just watch Kelly Pavlik, i also lure my opponent into false sense of security, sometimes i throw my jab just as a range finder than i whip the right hand across hard and fast when my opponent isn't expecting it, and it seems to surprise them. Kelly Pavlik does this very well i learnt that by watching him, also another good tactic is hiding the right hand behind the shoulder, but that is very risky.

i agree with scrap, all my trainers said that throwing that wide leads to slop when you fight fro real...you want straight and tight not willy nilly throw it all something is bound to hit. also could a possible use for that jab be to lift a head up and back so that right may actually have a bigger target when it comes seeking that sweet spot on the chin? i dunno but i try to do that.

Aim is vital when it comes to the actual fight.

    Hi,
I'll tell you a new combinatoin.Try this.Do a left jab and instead of throwing a normal cross throw it from above like an overhand but the elbows are not held tight.Relaxed elbows and shoulders are the key.Infact, if you thow this punch very relaxed it packs plenty of power than the normal cross.

Think of it this way, if you land a jab on someone's face then why wouldn't you want to hit the same spot (if it's open) with the following right cross?

If you hit defense with your jab why would you throw a right cross in the same place other than MAYBE you could catch your opponent trying to counter early.

Watch Wladimir Klitschko....1-2 same spot everytime one right after the other although sometimes he doubles up on the jab
