    pull-ups.
Alternate between close grip and wide grip. When I am out of town I use the top edge of an open door to do them.

you can get a pull up bar that fits in a doorway from places like Argos but I always think it looks like it would break. Plus if you're not strong enough to do one...what do you do then.

Chest (basically) pushing and back is pulling. Press ups are good but you will only improve so much without hitting the weights, again also depends on what you are trying to achieve. How about tug-o-war with a friend?

okay i know where your coming from cuz some of my friends have similar problems. Technique is the key to this lift. your start position should be like your sitting in a chair leaning forward. remember back streight head up. Get your arse down.

So you get to the top. On the way down don't bend your knees until the bar has just passed under them. and get your arse down. It's really hard to describe just in words. i do understand the problem your having though.

what i like to do, is have a wide grip, bend my knees down... streighten out with my knees and then the final str8en with my back... that dosent give me problems... but when i go down... i seem to struggle, i dont know what it is, but i cant help it, but i bend my knees, then my back... instead of back then knees, that might be where im going wrong, but it seems like forced habbit.

You must be strong then. I've tried using a door but I can't even come close to getting up. You better be careful you don't smash your fingers by accidently pushing the door closed.

lol- yeah, it only takes smashing your fingers once to realize you need to block the door open with something... not that I've ever done that

You should be trying to streighten back and kness at the same time it seems like your putting a little too much un due pressure on your lower back.
