Default That Luis Yanez kid is off the U.S. Olympic boxing team

    For those who are interested

Its an article on espn's boxing website. I don't know how many people saw it but a couple weeks ago NBC showed an hour long amateur boxing special with four of the U.S. team members boxing, Yanez, the U.S. light flyweight, was one of the guys boxing.

Apparently he was late coming back to the U.S. camp, something like that, just check out ESPN's website. Apparently there's been problems between the head U.S. trainer and other American fighters besides Yanez, Gary Russell Jr. for example.

The USBA is a trainwreck should have expected this.

Apparently he just went missing and didn't travel with the team toArgentina a couple weeks ago. He can still appeal but they say he hasn't been in Colorado Springs since March so if that's true then you can't blame the team all that much. That sucks. Hopefully the team isn't in chaos like it has been the past 8 years.

There's no way they are going to let that happen again. In 04 their team had basically two weeks of practice with one another, and had little chemistry. . They could have sent any given lower tier NBA team over there and given a much better account.. And besides that, their 08 squad is sickening. Bryant, Carmelo, Lebron, Kidd, Wade, Chris Paul, Bosh, Dwight Howard, I can't even remember who else but that alone is just unfair, they have 5 guys who have previously played in the Olympics(win or lose) and they all know that they actually have to take it seriously this time. Their 04 team just went through the motions, not nearly enough team play. I don't see any country that has a chance this time.

p4pking there is countries out there that have more than a chance. The other countries teams might not be loaded with as much talent as the us squad but talent doesn't always win. Sure coach k has actually tried to make this a team this time around by having it be a two year process instead of just a bunch of players being thrown on a roster to play together, still doesn't compare to the other countries where in many cases the people playing together have been doing so for nearly a decade. Also the talent disparity is not as big as it used to be, many of the countries have one or two guys playing in the nba and being rather sucessful at it.

This is horrible news, the kid definately has skill, maybe in time he'll just turn pro.

Good for him. Will provide for some awkward moments in the corner for sure though.
