    Default Eccentric excercises

Just wondering what the general opinion is on the benefits of such exercises, in particular injury prevention such as tendinitis.

From personal experience I found that some eccentric stretching (basically under my bodyweight) of Achilles tendons did alleviate soreness over time. I've only recently read up on the jargon, but realised that some exercises my physio gave me to get my hamstring back up to scratch would be classified as such.

Some do work well, I was given many for my shoulder.
I'm unsure how effective they are when not injured or treating an injury.

    Cheers for the input guys.

Been reading up recently and its what I gathered, OTT eccentric exercises cause problems, while lighter versions strengthen and help prevent injuries from over exerted eccentric motions.

I've been having problems with my elbows after doing pull ups. It was a bigger problem a few years when I was considerbly heavier, and not doing the whole motion. Its resurfaced recently and was hoping someone could recommend such exercises to help the biceps (after some , admittedly, self-diagnosis over tendinitis in that area).

I'm not completely sure if I'm on track with the topic or not here but I'll add something anyway and apologise if it's not relevant.

I went to the chiro yesterday and she found a trigger point in my left shoulder. Apparently it could be from over extending my arm and shoulder forward while I sleep (I swear sleeping is just dangerous!).

The chiro said that over stretching this muscle for too long while I sleep is bad but ironically one treatment she recommends is .......... stretching!

Apparently holding a stretch for 15 seconds or so correctly is a completely different thing from holding a stretch for too long - as you do if you sleep in strange positions like I apparently do.

Sorry can't recommend anything for you Bomp but I hope someone else can and I hope it comes good.
