Default So for the future of boxing what do you think?

I am actually excited for the future of boxing for next few years there is a whole slew of great talent coming up. I think the lower weight divisions will be as strong or stronger than they ever have been. The future looks very bright to me.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Mares, Gamboa, Berto, Warren(if he goes pro, the gary brothers), all the cubans that will be joining the pro ranks in the future, All the great american athletes that are amateurs right now(mostly in the light weight categories) Bayol.. the list goes on, but I think the deepest skill is found in the amateur fighters. I just hope they translate as pros. I think this is the strongest American team in a very long time in terms of the athletic ability, and they are all really young.

    On the down side.

The HW division is still a joke.

Also after De La Hoya retirers America does not of any superstar boxers.

IMO boxing around the world is getting stronger but boxing in the USA is getting weaker.

I agree, the future (and the present) looks bright. I couldnt care less about the heavy weights, as long as the lower weight classes are producing good fights/fighters im happy.

Our man David Haye will soon clear up the heavyweight division and wipe the slate clean for sure!!!!There's no dought that the division needs sorting out with quality talent. It needs to be livened up with excitment with someone who will actual fight anyone in the division.....The HAYEMAKER is the one to do that..I cant wait to watch him reopen the division,we need him too and he will deliver!!!!

hope it goes well everyone is allways saying talent is lacking today. i disagree excluding the heavy division boxers should be better today than say 30 years ago due to the advance in training and nutrition. the thing that messes boxing up today and y everyone feels the 50s and so on were better years and fighters, is the abc titles today. I would love if the boxing world recognised one champ per division but it is just a dream.

As an American I really wish I could disagree with you but I can't. HBO will try to market Pavlik, but I don't know how receptive the casual fan will be to him I really hope they take to him well. We still have some great upcoming talent though. Tavoris Cloud, our adopted Gamboa, the Petersons (if they ever step up in quality). I think once Andre Ward gets his groove in the pros he should definately be impressive.

Yeah, the future of the boxing game looks a tad bleak. Unfortunately, the overall health of the boxing industry is based off of the strength of the heavyweight champion and the presence of high-profile American fighters. I really don't see a bunch of that coming down the pipes. Wlad, unfortunately, is not the answer because eventually he'll get knocked out. Unless Demetrius Andrade wins gold, I really don't see any high-profile American boxers outside of Pavlik and Berto coming in the future. The future for international boxing looks awesome though.

    The future sure looks bright...

Devon Alexander has all the potential to become a champ.
Roman Gonzalez whether he beats Niida or not (Which I think he will) will also be part of the future.
Nkosinathi Joyi looks the part and if he can get exposure out here in the states he's def. onto something.
Saul Alvarez with some hard work and polishing can def. make it to the top.
Bernane Concepcion has all the tools to be a force. I want to see patience from him.
Urbano Antillon the kids been working hard. A win over Rosales could get him a title shot or an Eliminator bout.
