Default Pavlik vs Hopkins:Poor ticket sales?

A couple of Fridays ago, I waited all day to buy tickets to Pavlik vs Hopkins. They went on sale at noon, and I used the two pronged approach: calling ticket master and using the internet. I got through immediately and was about to purchase a pair of tickets in 100 level, centered on the ring.("best available" option) However, I decided not to buy the tickets after being informed that the normally $500 a tickets were raised to $700 piece.

Anyway, I checked back today, and the same pair of tickets("best available" 100 level) are still available. And this pair is that pair that is recommended to anyone who clicks “best available” 100 level seats.

And another thing, while on the phone with a ticketmaster guy waiting for the tickets to go on sale, I was informed that all the ringside seats centered on the ring were unavailable as per the promoter. So actual fans would never even have a chance to get to the good seats without resorting to scalpers.

Once Pavlik becomes more commercial and better know by casual fans he will become a superstar. Blue collar very exciting and a nice guy. At the moment im not to sure that many Pavlik fans outside of Ohio travel to his fights and Hopkins has always been a huge flop in both ppv and live gate he just stinks when it comes to action. still a great fighter though.

Juan Manuel Lopez was recently removed from the card. Instead, he will headline his own card in Puerto Rico (as per Dan Rafael of espn.com/boxing)

One thing Hopkins is not is a draw.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

With pavlik doing all his talking in the ring and without b-hop creating some kind of huge scandel i can see ticket sales being way down. As usual most of us are sold but the everyday person could probably care less, hopkins is known but his draw days are way behind him if they were ever there, and pavlik is not known enough to get most people outside of his hometown willing to fork down cash to watch this fight. Perfect example my co worker just said "hopkins is still fighting" ??

I hope your not surprised lance..

Hopkins has never been a draw and Pavlik although very well known in the boxing circles he's not a big draw yet.

On the undercard, Steven Luevano might be defending his WBO featherweight title against a good and very young prospect, Bernabe Concepcion (26 (KO 15) - 1 - 1)

Another reason for slow sales is that I think its a very predictable fight and so does everyone else. We know what both fighters bring to teh table and how they are gonna fight this fight so it doesnt have that edge to it .
