    Forgot to introduce myself.

The name's Remco, from the Netherlands. I'm 32 years old, started boxing seriously about 3.5 years ago. Before that I had been in the gym for a few months but I wasn't planning on actually boxing. Because of my age I did not feel the urge to compete, but things went very well in the ring lately so I thought why not, let's give it a shot. Had one exhibition, which was a very good experience. Did not "win" but it got me used to the idea I think. My first fight will be somewhere in October by the looks of it. I'm 5'8" to 5'9" and I'll be fighting at light welter.

The training section here is much better than on a "certain" other site btw, it looks like a bodybuilding site sometimes.

Wannabe bodybuilders at best. This forum actually has boxers on it....what a novel concept.

Indeed. A breath of fresh air.

    Wed Aug 27

Again did a short bike ride in the morning, 12.9 miles to be exact.

Biked 5 miles to the gym, moderate intensity. Did 15 minutes skipping and rotating limbs for warming up. After that did two rounds of shadowboxing. Next 12 rounds on the bag, working on various things. Cooling down consisting of rotating limbs and stretching muscles. Biked the same 5 miles home again, high intensity.

Felt great but there was nobody to spar with except a heavyweight that is known for 2 things. 1) his insane power and 2) his inability to hold back. I declined his offer for a spar, I want to remain good looking. Better luck tomorrow.

    Thu Aug 28

Biked 5 miles to the gym, moderate intensity. Warmed up for about half an hour, skipping, rotating, etc. Two rounds of shadowboxing. Two rounds on the bag. After that sparred about 8 two minute rounds against a southpaw, and 4 or 5 against an orthodox guy. Cooled down and biked 5 miles home after that.

Felt quite good in sparring, a bit sluggish from the last few days but not too bad. Boxed very defensively, both of them have a very high tempo and like to pressure. At first I boxed in the open, keeping some distance but I got tired of it and decided to stand my ground. Went to the ropes a few times on purpose to get some rest despite everyone telling me not to, I wasn't being hit and I needed a breather. Overall things went okay.
