    Default flat footed

Hey I noticed that when im hitting the heavy bag and punch mitts and get really into it, I dont pivot my feet when I throw left and right hooks, my feet stay flat and planted firmly, even though i try to remember to be on the balls of my feet and pivot. Any tricks to help me with this? Or is it ok to punch like that because I seem to havealot more power that way even though it is unorthodox technique

questions like these really surprise me. no offense. we had a kid at our gym in michigan with a similar issue. he was a really nice boxer, but on his right cross, couldn't seem to get down how to pivot the back foot onto the ball of his foot. very bizarre.... i suspect he was simply over analyzing the situation.

me, i just let my feet do as they will. let 'em loose, and let them drag a bit. your whole body should be a free flowing unit. just be relaxed and you'll pivot nicely.

(although i guess i do have an advantage from all my years of baseball, which is a similar motion in dragging the back foot when throwing...)

Interesting that Im a totally different boxer then I am a baseball hitter,in Boxing I expect to wear you down using outside shots,in baseball my attitude is I may miss it 5 out of 6,but on the 6th time good luck finding the ball
