Default Presidential debate is on now.

I don't think we're gonna get any specifics still...........more prepared speech with some character assassination thrown in for good measure

I thought Obama did well but who I was voting for was a foregone conclusion. I'm so glad to see that they stooped to bickering because the bickering is the funniest stuff. If you run a campaign where you are constantly slating all day, all day just picking out the other guy and then he does the same to you you have to HATE that person at the end of the day. To sit them at a table is just great, it was great to see Obama laughing at McCain's absurdities and McCain get genuinely agitated at Obama's remarks. Great TV, not as good as the Dodgers crying on their home field though hahah

If someone was going to say Obama won a debate it certainly would not be this last one.

    McCain will be our President.

I disagree, again both guys were caught spewing the same amount of lies, my problem with McCain is that he says he is against spending and wants to reduce taxes, but every debate he mentions something else that he's going to spend government money on. Obama says the same, but he is raising taxes on people I don't care about to pay for what he's talking about.

Bush was a horrible president economically because he taxed like a conservative, but spent like a liberal. I feel that while McCain says he's going to cut pork, he is just as guilty as Obama in voting for 700 Billion dollar plus bail out plan, that is socializing the mortgage industry, less government my ass.

Obama wins because his economic policies will hurt the American people less in the long term.

In all honesty given the economic crisis we're in, Perot would slaughter Obama and McCain. Had Perot just stayed in the 1992 race he would have won that one too.

Of course that is just hope and confidence on my part. Or is it confidence and hope?

If Obama wins this country will suffer more than it ever has before. We will all be equally poor. If you make more than $250,000 a year you will pay more taxes?

Doesn't that mean a duel income family with two well paying jobs would be better off having someone quit their job? Or they could work for free and give money to Obama and let him decide who gets it. That family's second job is usually to pay for daycare. Under Obama's plan it is cheaper for one parent to stay home with the kids than it would be for them to work and pay for daycare.

Socialism is not a good thing.

We don't know exactly "how much" will be taxed, so we really can't make too many accusations of what will happen if this does come to fruition.. The bottom line is this.. We live in a society where, barring morons who go bankrupt due to overspending, the rich get richer and richer and richer, and the middle class families and lower middle class families are constantly struggling.. What Obama wants is to tax one of the highest tax brackets, aka people who can AFFORD to pay a little bit more, where they probably won't even notice much of a difference, and the result is that a lower-middle class family's daily life will become a bit easier.. Still not nearly as easy as someone who is well off making 250,000+ a year, but it will have much more of a POSITIVE effect on the middle class families, then the NEGATIVE effects it will have on the 250,000+ plus families..

you said "under obama's plan it will be cheaper to stay home with the kids instead of paying for daycare and work" Now, i know that people will have different views, and even though i don't agree with what you said (i'll get to that) WHATS wrong with that?? I would like to see any middle aged mom who would rather work and send her kid to daycare, than stay home with their kids and watch them grow up.. My mom was a stay at home mom until we all started college and now she works to help fund other expenses, but no doubt in my mind would she rather be home if she had younger children to take care of..

back to what you posted, Again, we don't know what the taxation would be, but i REALLY doubt that it will bring up too many situations that you described.. meaning you'd be making more money not working.. But, again, if that is the case, i won't complain if i don't have to work..

along with all of that, Obama wants affordable healthcare.. So if you were this parent where it would make sense for you not to make a lot of money because you'd be taxed more, and you're worried about your 401k and social security and what not, and also your family rate for healthcare may not be THAT great, then to keep busy and not be home all day, you could get a job anywhere you wanted.. something you really enjoyed.. that is the big plus for affordable healthcare.. if you don't have to be a full time worker making a lot of money to get a good healthcare policy, then you can go work at the mom and pop bookstore down the road, get a decent healthcare policy, and make just about the same money you'd be making if you were working full time in the original job that you quit due to taxes.. AND you'd have a lot more free time if you were working part time..

I don't necessarily believe in socialism, because for every person who is less fortunate than i am to have the opportunity to go to college and hopefully eventually prosper, there are just as many kids out there that are just degenerates, and don't give anything to society, cause the crime rates to increase, etc.. So i don't want to share anything with them.. but to skim a LITTLE off the top, which is what Obama seemingly wants, i think helps more than hurts.

Across the board tax cuts + Increased funding for the war = More debt to China.

I was just reading an article on the tax increase.. it woul dincrease from 36% to 39%.. to put that into numbers, simply.. If you made 250,000 a year, then you are currently getting taxed $90,000.. With the increase, you are getting taxed $97,500.. This clearly is nothing to "sneeze" at, but when you divide that by 12 months you get $625 more taxes a month, and considering most people are paid bi-weekly, that would be $312 more taxes every paycheck.. But keep in mind if you're making $250,000 a year, your paycheck every two weeks is $9,615 before taxes..

Obama states that this is mainly the top 5% of citizens that the tax will effect, meaning 95% of us will not have taxes increased, and will hopefully see a break.. That extra $312 every two weeks that this tax bracket is getting taxed, could be close to what people ACTUALLY make in two weeks (most people will make slightly more).. but it is clearly a bigger positive for these people, than a negative for the people getting taxed.

    Agreed.

Its funny how people who wave the flag the most complain the most about paying taxes, actually doing something to help the country.

On a totally trivial note, McCain is a creepy old dude. I wonder if his advisers tell him to cut down on the creepy stare.

Another Obama win according to pretty much everybody, not that it really matters, he just needed to not lose decisively. It's easy to be cynical about this country but I have faith that there's no way this country could reward the Republicans for doing everything they could to completely screw things up.

Hopefully. If you think about its amazing that the party hasn't been completely discredited, but oh well.
