    Default Football (soccer)

    Hey bitches,

I'm looking for an EPL team to cheer for. I think wesrman or someone made a similar thread a while back, but I'm too lazy to bother to find it.

They've starting showing some games on tv here on the weekend, and I'm starting to get into football (or soccer) a bit. So now I need a team to cheer for. I'm not going to cheer for a Man U. or a Chelsea, becauses it's goddamn lame to cheer for a team just because they're the most popular. The fact that I have an ex named Chelsea also makes me loathe to cheer for them.

I was think about Newcastle, solely because I love Newcastle Brown Ale. I feel that is as good a reason as any.

Are there any Canadian's playing in the English league? Maybe nationalism could sway my sentinemt to the team(s) they play on.

Anyways, who should I cheer for and why?

Newcastle have a young Canadien playing for them DAVID EDGAR, only a fringe player though

They're currently 18th in a relegation position but should be too good to go down

I though about cheering for them because I love the Beatles, then I found out you were a fan .

I don't know that jack about how the EPL standing work, but Newcastle appears to suck. They will fit right in with all the other teams I cheer for. If they have a history of mediocrity and mismanagement I might be sold.

I'm not big on that jersey though, reminds me of the referee/linesmen jerseys in the NHL.

I honestly don't know anything about any of them. Like I said, I saw a bit of a Newcastle game and thought maybe I'd choose them as my team because I love Newcastle beer.

What i did was watch some games (i got the setanta package on cable, it shows every game each week) and let a team pick me. Of course i wanted one of the better teams so they would have a chance to be good, but then i just chose the teami found myself rooting for the most.

Teams i would suggest you choose from are Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Man City isnt good right now, but they're newly rich and should be getting better asap.

Great sport imo. I cant believe it took me so long to get into it.

I've been trying to get into it for a while, I always try and watch the World Cup, to be honest all that diving and the faking of injuries turned me off of the game. I'm trying to get over it, but it still bothers me.

Well you must learn, the more flamboyant the culture the more apt to dive and throw themselves on the ground and feign injury. So watch out for players or teams from: Brazil, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, and Argentina.

...not ALL the players from those countries do that but there are more than enough to garner a stereotype.

Soccer is great 90 minutes of time to get smashed....and if you're winning taunt anyone who gives a damn

    Choose Portsmouth FC.

Not a glamour team but current holders of the FA cup and we are in europe and we have some good players playing for us.

Go on...you know you want to.
