    Default Diet Help

Hey guys found this article pretty helpful, so have a read and let me know what you think.

100 ways and 100 methods and 100 keys to keeping fit and healthy - Fit Box

One of it's first tips is with every meal have two pieces of fruit/veg, and to build up to 8-10 pieces a day. That seems like a lot of fruit to me, anyone eat that much fruit?

I eat quite a bit of fruit, and likely close to that. I admit I lack in the veggies dept. but use a multi vitamin to supplement that. I imagine it helps for days when am not getting much fruit either.

There is so much water in fruit too...I think it helps to ensure the body gets its needs met for daily water intake.

    I think I'd have about 6 pieces.

Always have fruit with breakfast, generally have some sort of veg with lunch and 2 or 3 pieces of fruit for morning and afternoon tea.

If i have dinner then i might have some veg with that but i am not really all that hungry at night anymore so I don't always eat dinner.

I like it but it's not always that filling i guess so once you're in the habit it's easy to eat a lot.

Not to say i'm the greatest at managing what i eat - right now I'm indulging on fantails!

Thanks for posting the link Salty I'll check it out at some stage.

I eat 5 or more pieces of fruit a day. A few bananas, a few peaches and depending on the season I add strawberries, blackberries, mango's or whatever I can get my hands on to my smoothies. Plus one portion of vegetables each day, preferably a cruciferous one.

    Probably

Or how about the tiresome "it will raise your insulin levels".

Sorry mate i missed your post. Did you make it?

Next time, rather than getting fat (lol) you could do with super-saturating your muscles with glycogen. There's a section on it in the sports nutrition bible thread.

Also if you get a day to yourself you could try a different method.

Every hour, spend 3 minutes doing really intense explosive movements. Immediately after the 3 mins, consume 1g/kg of bodyweight of carbs.

Basically it should make your body continually re-open the window of opportunity to re-stock on glycogen.....similar to how it is after a weight's session. Except after the 3 minutes your muscle glycogen levels are likely to still be pretty full rather than half empty (which is the case after weights). So the result should be super - saturation.....which will add weight to you aswell as giving a load of energy for you're fight.

Ha yea..I did make it, but thanks...and I'll give that a read in that thread. I didn't get to 165. I was at 162...ended up weighing at 160 come fight time, but overall things worked out.

Now I'm tired of losing weight for a fight, and then trying to gain it for another...and working out and all of it, so taking a bit of a break...but will likely be back to it before I know it. No fights planned till after Christmas now after 4 in a quick period...but never know, something may crop up.

Actually i meant to add this the other day but i never got round to it.

Fructose cannot be stored in the muscle. It can only be stored in the liver. So over-eating on fructose can promote fat gain.....if liver glycogen stores are full.

Obviously liver glycogen is steadily depleted in-between meals so providing you're eating consistent, but small meals throughout the day, it's hard to envisage fructose being too much of a problem. Plus fruits are only a % fructose.....so i wouldn't worry.

I'm not fat, eat small meals throughout the day and I exercise a lot, I'm absolutely not worried about some fat. If my body feels the need to temporarily store it as fat, it has my blessing.
