Default The thing I found the best about Hatton-Malignaggi...

Was the fact beforehand Paulie was coming out with "Hatton is a wrestler" and saying the ref needs to stop Ricky do his holding.

Yet Paulie looked to clinch every minute, every round.

Hatton hardly clinched at all. Mayweather Sr has got that nearly all that out of his game and he boxed brilliant with that jab Hatton.

    Paulie so contradicting

(Another thing I found great was all the people doubting Hatton and saying he was shot)

    For those whose stated that:

Yes Paulie was unwilling to engage and started clinches every opportunity he got. Massively dissapointing showing from PM.

Hatton looked pretty decent but was against a bum lets be honest i watched Paulies last three fights and his is awful, lets see how Ricky fiars against a real world class fighter like a Pac Man or JJM.

Also Hatton needs to really look at this fight and say to himself does he want to cash in and make lots of money against Dela Hoya which he will loose and badly, even his trainer who has trained both says he is against the fight, or does he want to become a legend and fight at 140 for next couple fo yearr and beat all comers, Hatton must of made close to 30-40 million pounds fuck the Dela Hoya fight, lets see fights against Pac JJM Bradley and all the other belt holders.

    Totally agree.

Hatton put on a great showing.

Paulie's performance was disappointing. As soon as Hatton hurt him he basically quit.

Well everyone knows I'm not a Hatton fan, and I always love to rib Lefty over his favourite fighters but I thought he did extremely well last night.

I'm certainly not going to say that Paulie was crap and downplay his win, he was a legit world champ with a decent record and he gave Cotto a great fight.

Nobody tried to downplay B Hop's win over Pavlik on the basis of Pavlik looking shit so Hatton should be given the same courtesy.

He did good, probably should have squeezed himself back into the top 10 p4p on that showing, he's now basically become the Ring champ and universally recognised champ at lightwelter twice now.

I'm also pleased he's going to get another chance at a mega fight hopefully against the winner of Pacquaio De La Hoya.

I'd much prefer him in against Manny to be honest, I reckon that would be a brilliant fight.

But fair play to him for always stepping up to the plate, he deserves nothing but praise today.

Why are people calling Paulie Crap? He gave Cotto a tough fight, he is one of better pure boxers, and very fast, also has a great chin. Hatton did something to Paulie nobody including Cotto could do. Dominate Paulie through every round.

I think Malignaggi held on to Hatton because of Hatton's reputation for wrestling. Maybe Bayless would assume it was Ricky doing the holding.

I think your being sarcastic there but the real reason was obviously Paulie felt Rickys power early on and didnt fancy feeling it again and went into survival mode when in close.

Hatton did GOOD last night!! That's one of the best performances I've seen out of the Hitman. He certainly proved that he isn't shot like I thought he was.

Sure, Paulie wasn't putting up much of a fight but he did win the first round so I think it was due to Ricky hurting him in that second. He just got extremely gun-shy after that so full credit to Ricky for shutting him down.

He did better than Cotto against Paulie. Great performance! Bring on Hatton vs Pacquaio

P.S. Did anyone see the Mayweather effect on Matthew Hatton?? Haha he was throwing those short counter uppercuts all night! I like that Ricky hasn't tried to emulate Floyd which happened with Oscar when Floyds dad took over training camp. Ricky was just a better version of himself last night.

Indeed lefty, Ricky showed he is the king of the 140 division once again. I pray Manny can outpoint De La Hoya so Ricky can fight Manny at HIS weight rather than someone elses.

I think Manny would be a capable fighter at 140 againsed Hatton.
