Moreso your going to have to have someone ride the stand to keep it in place
If you put a Belt around the Bag and yourself then put elastic through the Belts 3" longer than your Jab, it doesnt matter how Heavy it is. Plus it makes you work Harder and faster and is great for Posture.

Sounds evil in a really good way! I like light bags but the type of filling seems to make a difference too.
I hate the ones which just harden to being like rock to hit - too jarring to use.
The lighter bags would make you move a lot more using this method though which i can imagine is quite challenging!
Also i've seen some older ones with a sort of suade finish which might be awkward to use with the elastic wouldn't they?
I'm assuming you'd need a bag with a smooth finish so it didn't drag or catch a lot?
I'm not sure if I even still get it. What kind of belt would fit around a bag and allow you to tie off 3" from your jab? I don't think I'm dumb, but some days...maybe just thick.
Now for posture...how does it help? Is it to maintain center of gravity for close infighting? Does it help promote proper foot distance when punching and moving?
It would limit you I would think in one way, wouldn't it...say for circling and lateral movement, and in and out practice? I need more info. I think on this one to get it...because I am interested in trying it.
p.s. I understand how this would negate the weight of bag issues.
I would have imagined a belt around my waist, a belt around the bag with a ring in each. Between the rings I would put the elastic.
If you hit it you'd be pulled forewards but to avoid getting hit with the back swing you'd have to move in a balanced way with the movement of the bag. You could not allow it to pull you off balance because then you could not move again when you needed to as it swang back.
I guess i like this idea because i think my in and out movement is ok but i will oftenmove too far out and then have to work getting back in again.
I think this would be good for learning to move while at close range which is difficult to force yourself to train sometimes.
Am I on the right track here Scrap?
I sometimes have the same problem Sharla, i'll push too far back not giving myself the opportunity to counter quickly and unexpectedly if the opportunity arised. I think this would work well in teaching you the quick footwork neccessary and also the range which is mighty handy.
I'm glad you know what i mean here Salty. I think part of it could be instinctive - it's safer further away i guess but i think when i want to mave i want to do it quickly.
When you move with speed it seems natural to push off your front foot hard and fast - which propels you further away.
Im not really sure of how to move quickly and keep within a certain range i think - a silly as it sounds!
Youve got it, trust me its an education

Thanks Scrap - might have to give it a go next time i'm close to a bag - I imagine it being highly educational by making me feel like a clumsy git for a few months kinda way!
It makes you understand Feel in relation to Gravity Takes you to another Level
