Default How good was Dela Hoya's chin?

Pretty straightforward question. I've been thinking about this recently, and admittedly I am not the most knowledgeble guy about ODH, but I really think he had a great chin and a great ability to recovered when he was hurt (from what I have seen anyways).

I know Hopkins stopped him with a body shot, but I can think of few times that I have seen ODH badly hurt. I know Quartey dropped him, PBF stunned him a bit but never had him in trouble. Pac was able to hurt him with an accumulation of accurate punches, but ODH absorbed a ton of shots in that fight before getting in trouble, even with the effects of weight-drain and age.

Has anyone else dropped or badly rocked Oscar because of a head shot?

Also, I am going to neg rep the first person who tries to turn this into a thread about Pacquiao. Pac-fans be warned.

He had a real good chin, helped out by being competent defensively. I thought Mosley stunned him at least once in the second fight. Nothing else jumps out right away.

Vargas landed some of the most flush power punches on him.
    He has a great chin.

    Hahahahahaha! Good job.

Not sure if I can say ODLH had the greatest chin but the times he got knocked down he came back to take care of business. He got floored by the first time on his 11th fight (in less than a year) against a guy named Narciso Valenzuela in the first round. Oscar got up and knocked him out. Everything happened in the first round.

Got knocked down when he faced Quartey and didn't seem hurt. Came back to exchange some punches and knock down Quartey as well. Quartey didn't seem hurt either as they kept punching away after both came back from knock downs.

I am not sure if a good chin means not getting knocked down ever in your career or getting knocked down but coming back just fine like nothing happened just like Trinidad who has been knocked down as well and comes back just fine to continue and even beat the other guy by KO or TKO.

I'll say he got a good chin. Got hit many times by punchers throughout his career and took it fine even when he got knocked down those two times.

He had a very good chin, and it got better as he went up in weight. I think he definitely didn't have a Mosley or Margarito level of chin, but it would be right up there with most guys, I mean he fought a lot of the biggest punchers around his weight class, and he has only been stopped twice in his career.

Yep that's it... He was just a tough young guy in general.. He wanted to win so badly and I think his heart as much as anything contributed to his chin and will to take whatever was handed to him...

He did have a great chin and didnt worry about his looks either

He moved up from superfeather and guys like Tito, Mosley , Vargas and Hopkins couldnt drop him with a head shot. His chin was tested by Quartey but he got up to put Quartey down.

At his best he was a great fighter with a great chin. Its been a decade since he has been at his best though

I do agree mosley has a great chin but i remember that in one of the fights with forrest i thought mosely was more hurt than ive ever seen oscar but he did recover and finish the fight and ive not seen him in trouble since, plus i think there was a clash of heads before he was caught clean with several right hands by a vernon forrest in his prime. .

He had a great chin, especially considering his oposition. He also had good recovery time. He wold get KD but get back up unscathed.

I remember when ODLH was starting out as a pro he got dropped a few times and I thought that when he moved up in class he might prove to be a bit chinny but he has proven me totaly wrong.

You can say what you want about ODLH but the man can take a great punch.
