Default Supposedly "great" movies that kind of sucked

Just saw Mystic River, what a pile of shit. Horrible movie, the acting was totally schizophrenic, at times decent to good, at times absolutely comical. The scene near the end with Sean Penn and his wife in their bedroom is one of the funniest scenes in movie history.

Feel free to respond, unless its to take up for that piece o shit.

I thought Crash (best picture Oscar in 2005) was a shit movie. Shit acting, melodramatic, shit storylines, exxagerated ideas. All those accolades jut for telling us that racists exist? Hollywood gives itself a political pat on the back.

To be fair most of Clint Eastwoods directorial efforts suck. I didn't much like this film either I have to say, and Million Dollar Baby was the flat out most depressing, miserable movie experience I've ever endured, it was like an exocet missile homed at the Oscars with a nuclear sized warhead of melodrama and despair to get the critics weeping and wailing and telling us how great it was.

I'm a big fan of Eastwood's older stuff, his Westerns etc, but all of his films now are just gloom and depression with characters loaded down with guilt, shame, suicidal tendencies and hopelessness.

    He needs a hug.

I kind of liked the first hour or so of Million Dollar Baby but it quickly became shoot me in the head please. Not to mention how silly the boxing was.

Crash was ok I guess I didn't love it. Mystic River was shit, Gone baby Gone was a lot better, different director, same author though.

know what you mean re some Eastwood movies - depressing and dull : Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River

I also find some of the Coen brothers stuff shite (Intolerable Cruelty, Barton Fink, Burn After Reading) - others excellent mind.

I think maybe you just have to 'get' some of them ?? Bit like Monty Python - I just didn't get that either

There really wasn't much to get with Python. Basically it was slapstick humour, not much to it, you either liked it or didn't. Certainly there is nothing I as a fan can explain to you to make you understand. That being said, some Python had a clever message to it. Life of Brian for example, was quite excellent satire.

Cold Mountain was rubbish.. Literally hired it when it first came out and didn't even bother finishing it..
Maybe it's just Nicole Kidman's horrible acting... Anyone that says she's a great actor that even deserves to be on screen, let alone win an Oscar, needs their head checked...

I heard an interview with her just after "Australia" came out, and the interviewer was saying "Is there any parts in the movie where you watch and be like, "okay, that was pretty good acting"" etc??
She replies "Oh no! I hardly ever watch my movies and when I do I just cringe (so do us all Nicole)" she then goes on saying "My whole career i've had to turn to people and go "Was that really horrible?" and they'd say it was great, but I always feel like i'm doing a terrible job"...

Well here is how I see it, literally because she IS doing a bad job..
But, if you're in a career.. A career you've chosen.. You work hard at it and are supposed to even be world class at it, you should at LEAST feel like you're doing a decent job.. Like, I have a pretty mundane job, but I can still look at things and go, "hey, i'm pretty proud of that.. Or, I worked well here"... The fact Nicole has never been proud of any acting she's done or ever felt like she's done a good job is evidence in itself that she's probably doing a shit job....

Although some critics can't stand her and see her wooden one note performance for what it is, a lot still think she's brilliant...

F'n shits me.. And she's ruined a tonne of potentially good movies..
