Default -HELP- What the FUCK is "Non System Disk"????????

    Need technical support.

I want to install a program on my PC.
As a side note it reads:

*Note: For Vista users, it is recomended to install this program to Non System Disk.

Can anyone explain to me what this means in "dumb ass terms"?
I know a system has several disks but what does it mean by non systen disk?

I'm a dumass myself these days when it comes to computers but what I think is it wants you to install the program to a disk where the operating system is not located on. So if you have a c drive where vista is installed on, install the program on your e drive if you have it...

I can't help either but someone should be able to.. I just want to add that we got a new computer with Vista on it about 4 months ago and we are always having trouble installing stuff on it.. Vista has a lot of compatability issues and some things i've just had to give up on trying to get working and run it on my super old windows xp laptop...

    Good luck with it though!

Non System Disk usually refers to an external Disk, i.e a USB Memory stick. Not sure in this case why it would say to do that? Unless it is a caution to ensure it doesn't corrupt

As already said the system disk is where the operating system lives. You'll need to install it on another hard disk if you have one but Im guessing as its a laptop you wont have one. You;ll need to create a partition on your C drive to create an E drive or install it on removable storage.

You've checked the flux capacitor right?
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Guess I'll install it on my external HD.
But that means I'm gonna have to connect the HD everytime I want to use it...

weird.. is it an older program? Something on it is probably not compatible with Vista..

I have Vista and i have issues here and there.. like i wanted to put in my old hard drive to get stuff off of it, and because it was IDE it wouldn't detect it as a hard drive, just as a dvd-rom.. stupid..

In Windows Vista, system disk is a codename for flux capacitor. If your flux capacitor is gone, then you are fucked three ways from Sunday. You need a whole new computer.

But the Flux Capacitor is new, I just bought it.

I also installed a new Diffusioner Transfuction to protect it from any spyware like Zortek.

    OK, maybe it's something else.

My understanding is that a system disk usually means a disk that contains a limited number of "boot files". Typically the system disk is always the c drive. The many thousands of files that make up the Vista operating system can be on the c-drive, or any other hard drive, but the boot files have to be on the c-drive. Of course the term system disk may have a different meaning to the people who developed this software.

You know, I can't think of any reason why software would want to be installed on a non system disk. Lots of people these days have only have one hard drive, and only one partition on that hard drive. That ios the c-drive. D-drive and 3-drive would be used for CDROM, or DVD. Unless things are different with Vista, I never bothered to learn about that.

I suggest if you are concerned, see if the software company has a tech support department, and ask them to explain in writing exactly why their program wants to go on a non-system disk. Based on everything I've learned up to and including Windows XP, it really doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Thanks for the help..

I just went ahead and installed it on my external HD.
