Default so what the hell happened to this new found hatton jab we were told he had found??

Lets be perfectly honest here hatton couldnt of boxed a worse fight if he`d of planned it and was as one dimensional and predictable as ever.

But what on earth happened to this new improved jab friendly, fade in and out style hatton claimed he had found??

Did the occasion just get to ricky and everything he was taught go out of the window due to the occasion getting to him or did rickys implosion before our very eyes come down to the fact he just didnt have that B-Plan work behind the jab style in his armour??

I think he came out planning to fight like the "new" Hatton, but about 30 seconds later was in two minds after getting caught, lost his confidence, then got hurt and quickly reverted to type.

At the top level the jab is rather more complicated a tool than just waiting to be in range and pumping your left hand out, especially against a southpaw. Just cause it's the fastest punch in your arsenal doesn't mean it's a gimme to land and do its job, just watch Jennings (who over uses his jab) after stepping up too high couldn't make it work at all against Cotto.

Like any punch it depends on foot placement and timing to land, and a guy who shuffles in and out of range as quickly as Pac is very difficult to time, he'd have been hitting air and leaving himself open to counters.

Watching him on the pads with Senior was a little baffling as there was no footwork incorporated at all, just standing two feet away from each other and throwing the punches called out, with the occasional huge duck thrown in for good measure. Dont' know if they were expecting Pac to stick his face exactly where the pads would be just for a laugh.

At the end of the day Hatton is a one trick pony, his greatest asset against guys just below the top level was his biggest liability against the elite. He has very good foot speed and is able to close the distance quickly and throw his left hook, from which he'd set up a combination or hold on to avoid the reply, but against a guy considerably faster of foot (Pac) and a guy with superior balance and timing (PBF) he just didn't have much of a chance.

The smoke has cleared up. And most of the mirrors are broken. The truth is plain and obvious. Hatton just ain't that good. Never was. He's been blessed with the fact that he's been in the right place at the right time several times in his career. But he's nothing more than a UK David Diaz.

Hatton on a par with Diaz? Are you taking the piss?

Diaz went 9 rounds with Pac. Stop insulting him.

That's true. Diaz took a beating but he at least went 9. Hatton was lucky he even got out the first.

Who did you predict to win this fight?

Ricky is a good fighter. Wrong gameplan but good fighter. Let us not take away the credit from MP. All Ricky has to do is to bounce back and go back to his winning ways. He is far from shot.

Ricky's one of my favourites, but in this fight it wouldn't have mattered what tactics he employed or what strategy he executed.

Ricky always had a good chin, but the years of abusing his body have taken their toll.
    The weight gain between Fights.
Dropping weight before fights with excruciating training.
Neglecting defense. Taking far too many punches in every fight.

Ricky on the night was and is good enough to beat most at 140.
Pacquiao though is a great fighter. Great beats good.

cant help but admit that now appears to be painfully accurate

But cant help but still ponder what the hell happened to that jab that was so effective against malignaggi

Hatton would of probably indeed had to walk on to a punch to get that left off but still the fact it wasnt even tried even in the very few moments pacquiao wasnt pummeling him still bugs me!!

I was surprised that he didn't use his jab, even before he got hurt.

Maybe he didn't use it because of Pac's southpaw style.

Even if Hatton used the jab he was going to get stopped anyway. Pacquiao was simply too strong and fast for him.

Oh he's shot. Everybody knows that. Even Ricky himself knows it. I personally would like for him to continue to fight. Seeing him like this never gets old

VD is such a prick, wanting to see someone get brutally KO'd again is just wrong. And you call yourself a boxing fan?

I think he was just plain scared to throw his jab, I mean with Pac mans speed.. if he misses the jab he would of quickly recieved a 3 punch combo smack bang on the button.

to consider the fact you could probably tie both hattons arms together, blind fold him and give him 15 guiness`s and he`d still knock demise the cunt out it is indeed very sad!

to be honest i just think ricky approached the beginning of the fight incorrectly.. he seemed like he wanted pac to see his power so that he would have space for his jab a round or two later.. unfortunately he was 100% offense and 0% defense.. you can't bully around someone who is that fast and powerful that early in the fight.. should've felt him out more...........
