    Cool Re: Ted Kennedy Dies

dunno why but thought he was older.

He's been round since the dawn of time. Most people over here will know him for Chappaquiddick and for supporting the IRA.

That's sad. I'm feeling all nostalgiac now. Regardless of what you think of his politics, he was a symbol of his times for anyone who remembers the '60s. It's kind of like the end of an era. I can't really imagine what kind of decisions he had to make to continue on in politics after his brothers were killed.

He probably would have been a shoe in for president if he never killed that girl in the car accident in 69.

Im surprised he was even able to continue in any political career after that incident. I bet if that happened now days with the 24 hour news channels and so many other outlets of media/news he wouldn't have been able to continue.

Maybe you are right, but i also think it kind of depends on the esteem to which people are held. The fact that he continued on successfully speaks to the high regard people had for him, and were prepared to forgive an accident. But then again, there is a much higher awareness of the evils of driving drunk now, so maybe you are right, and maybe he wouldn't have driven that car nowadays anyway.

That guy had a terrific legacy behind him, has seen it all and was a major and deeply respected heavyweight in the politcal arena, he had brain cancer so it was to be expected but as we didn't hear about him, I thought he was doing better, r.i.p Teddie, you did a lot for your country though as a human, you made a few mistakes here and here, your political legacy is beyond imagination and you will definitely be missed.

Yes but as far as we know Tim Russert never killed anyone, never helped anyone get aquitted of rape, invented HMO's, supported the IRA or wrote anything having to do with the No Child Left Behind education bill.

But fine, I'll make my own thread and if you guys want to bitch at me in that thread fine, I'll leave you guys to actually feel sorry for that bastard.

or you could say BECAUSE he was a Kennedy & of 'good character' he only got a slap on the wrists for leaving the scene of an accident.
