    Default Jon Thaxton announces his retirement

    He has had a very long tough career facing some good fighters along the way.Age has caught him up over the years but this year he has had a very bad year, been very easy to hit,taken alot of shots and lost a few fights.His lastest lose was last saturday he relized he cant compete no more with fresh hungry younger fighters.     Top man. I actually quickly spoke to him as he was leaving the Alti arena last week. Wish him all the best, which is what I should have said to him last week..... rather than, "I enjoyed the fight". Ha. I was excited still..... Ha...

    Hope he does well in what ever he does....

    I think he wants to be a Barry McGuigan and do commentating etc on TV. That's the impression I get whenever he has a mic in his hand anyway.

    Will always remember the Hatton fight, both cut to fuck and scrapping away.

    Tough fighter. Long career. Seems like a million years ago when he was fighting Augustus, Dunne and the like.

    im glad he has made the right move, he is a role model for what is dedication in this sport. always had me on the edge of the seat should go into commentating now will be better then most comes across as very articulate
