Default New Muhammad Ali documentary on ESPN Tuesday night

About the buildup to the Larry Holmes fight.

Hopefully somebody uploads it onto the net for those of us not in America.

I like the focus being on the Holmes fight, I've read a looooooot about as much as I can possibly explain in various archives lately and I must say the most interesting perspectives to me were first when he was in his exile in 1971 and in the buildup to the Holmes fight where everyone was hoping Ali could prove them wrong one last time. Some of it is touching to read, I can't remember any specifics though. Norman Mailer though wrote a piece on Muhammad Ali called Ego that is sooo good I wish I can share it with everyone.

This might be a silly question but would that be on ESPN in the UK? Thats one of the few Ali things that i would really look forward to watching as with most Ali stuff,we have seen it a million times.

Have they been advertising their 30 for 30 over there? Have they showed the movies on Wayne Gretzky and the Baltimore Colts marching band over there? If you've managed to maybe catch glimpses of those then yeah you'll probably get it. I don't know why they wouldn't show it they put a lot of money into these productions. I'm light on the praise I give ESPN but this was very ambitous of them and it's turned out great so far.

To be honest we were only used to a watered down version of ESPN until they got the rights to the football and that was only 3 or 4months ago. Now that we have to subscribe, they've upped their game a little.

30 For 30 Was good documentary that has never been seen before, everyone in Ali's camp knew it was over except for Ali himself, Holmes knew it too and said so in so many words, It shows the humility of Holmes at the time and of today, they were friends before and after the fight and Holmes still shows great respect for ALI. I have always rated Holmes as one the best Heavies ever and his sparring and working with Ali in the earlier days shows how good he was and still is a good man today. Needless to say I enjoyed seeing a little of the behind the scenes leading up to Ali vs Holmes fight. I'm old enough to have followed both careers and think it's a good watch for anyone so check it out if you get the chance.
