You realize you're standing in a lobby and recalling incidents and cases no one can relate to . Literally standing there like a babbling Yoda reminiscing good co workers, dags and clients decades gone by but "new" people in the room only have a max 5 yrs under the belt. It's a literal disconnect eventually. Soon you just start talking about how good the coffee is that morning.

I asked people to stop using 'woke' when they talk to me. I get it. But I don't want to really. I hear a 40+ year old use woke and I picture Dragnet talking about hip jive cool and out of sight Daddy trying to stay up on lingo .

If you're fortunate to still have 8x10 photos of family-friends hanging around the crib..dust them off shine them up. Original framed prints need to be stood up and appreciated daily.

    I'm not getting older anymore.
Some time back I sat down and thought about it. You're a kid and you can't wait to be 16, then 18, then 21. So you wish aging upon yourself chasing these milestones but none of them turn out to be as great as the advertising makes them out to be. And you get distracted and keep getting older.
I decided that, since I willed it upon myself, I would no longer consent to the aging process. For my 55th birthday I gave myself the present of getting younger every day.
That has worked out very well for me and this year I celebrated my 54th birthday and gave myself the present of getting 2 days younger every day.
I'm only going to go back to 47 or maybe 45 because I really didn't have any sense before then. Also, I don't want to go back so far that my hair has color again because I don't remember what color it was and I don't want to freak me out.

    @darkbrownnotsoold

You would also have to change your name as all of the gray would be gone

So once you hit 47 what happens?

When you read a thread called best boxers under 25 and have to think about it.

    For a while.
But if you see a thread called best boxers over 35 still boxing, you can rattle off a dozen!
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!

With a friends departure this week I'm now the oldest and longest employed on the job. There's a 17 year age difference with the next oldest and a 12 minimum gap in years walking through that front door. Shat I'm on my 3rd generation of some clients pets. Being honest, it's a very weird feeling listening to a few stand around and talk about "do y'all remember way back when....." and it's all of just 6 years ago .

Oh, that way back when convo gets on my nerves! Every other year when I go back to Milwaukee (I still got contact with my old crew) They pull that shat all the time.

Now I see the stark difference.
20 or 30 years ago our topic was what we were going to do.
Today it's - remember when we used to.

Saw a comedian Mike Epps -calling out the age groups, where the
20something at ? They hollered, he hollered back. Yall got the best seats in the house, best car in the lot ...still living at home, ya'll aint shit!
30's (ya'll aint old, but ya mofos aint young either-better quit fuckin up!)
then 40's they hollered- he hollered back it's about ya'll bed time!!

You know you've gotten old, when the best in anything comes from your era exclusively.

Guys on my shift literally think Johnny Unitas and some dude named Otto Graham would shred today's Defense. They think 1930's defense would force Tom Brady to retire.
I'm thinking but Brady as a QB is way bigger, taller and probably just as strong.

They still think Larry Bird, Jerry West would make Lebron James look like a novice.

And Ernie Shavers punches way harder than Tyson, Lennox, Vitali, oh, he'd put them to sleep, Ok....didn't want to remind them- he was KO'd/stopped 7 times himself.

I was brilliant at playing Street Fighter, either Ryu or Ken, destroyed anyone that challenged me. Played against my son on the new game on Nintendo Switch and got lost in humiliating fashion.

    Not playing ever again.
