My labrum cartilage has been injured and I had recently surgery to fix it. If you are wondering what the labrum is, it's a cartilage that keeps your arm from dislocating. Anyways, I have been training for two years thaiboxing(muay thai) and to be realistic I'm not sure if it is wise to continue because of the uncontrolled nature of the sport and clinching. Sweeps and throws make it much less controlled than boxing if you ask me and the risk of injury is higher in my situation and I've enjoyed the boxing spars and training session we have had a lot. So I have been thinking that if the surgery turns out successful I might give boxing a shot. Do you know anyone who has been able to spar, and perhaps be competitive at amateur level after this kind of injury? The physiotherapist told me that they have had one boxer who was able to continue but who knows. Imo there is not much point to train without sparring/competing because it's the very essence of a ring sport and in the ring the most important lessons are learnt, at least thats how i feel.
