    nothing to fall back on?

mate as you said Tyson made $400M. Secure the 200M at a bank for maybe 5% per annum and you have.

$1.6 Million dollar per month!!!! and that's just securing the half.

Imagine witdrawing $1M each month for your everyday needs.

Some of the figures there are scary. Oscar, Sugar Ray, Iron Mike.... Wow.

Yeah, ol' Zab got taken in negotiations but he stated this before and after the fight. He said he knew he would KO Spinks the next fight and then that is when his money would come.
That is what a real fighter does. He takes short money for a great opportunity.
I suppose that's motivation enough to knock someone out...

Don't know how much he made after this fight but I wonder if in retrospect, he feels that was the right decision..?

Guys like Tyson and DLH with their earnings in the hundred millions is rare...That is why it was such a big deal....

I was speaking in the terms of the average fighter....The average champion of like Glen Johnson's caliber or simular....You have to realize...

If the purse is 1 million it gets broken down

    1,000,000- 20% to manager

    800,000 left...minus taxes....comes to about

500,000 left....Then payroll for trainer, cutman, cornermen....comes to another 100,000 (at that stage in the game trainers usually get a percentage and other corner men fixed rate)..

400,000 left add in various other expenses it comes to about another 50,000

now with 350,000 left people say hey I could live nicely off that but now you need think...

They have a family and bills owed to pay.....by the end of that million dollar payday when all is said and done they end up with about 200,000 to do as they wish......Most will live off of it until the next payday and that is not to say it will be that much....

A fighter retired at abt age 35 lets say....Now they have to raise their family on the ring earnings, pay taxes every year off of it...property taxes etc....from money not being replenished....They need pay for kids educations....etc.....This money has to last them a lifetime.....

we see that number of the payday and often forget what there is to pay out and forget this is all they have and unlike us who works tilo they are 65 or so these guys are done in their 30's

That was around the time he said about Don King "If you make a dollar he wants the first 110 cents."
