    Default Herbie rides again

Herbie Hide will top the bill in the next Prizefighter tournament.

The former world heavyweight champion will be the star attraction at the York Hall on April 30th, as the Cruiserweights II tournament comes to Sky Sports HD.

Hide, who in his time has been in with the likes of Vitali Klitschko, Riddick Bowe and Tony Tucker, is the biggest name in the eight-man line-up who will be scrapping it out for the small matter of £32,000.

Other contenders include former Commonwealth champion Darren Corbett, Mark Krence, who has fought for the British heavyweight title, and hard-hitting veteran John Anthony.

As always, there will be a number of highly-rated prospects looking to have a career-changing night by winning Prizefighter.

Jon-Lewis Dickinson is undefeated in his five fights, while Wayne Brooks, Zahid Kahut and Leon Williams are hoping to catapult themselves into big-time boxing.

It is the successful blend of big names, former champions and up-and-coming prospects and with Hide in the mix, anything could happen on the night.

"Boxing in the UK is buzzing right now and we are delighted to announce the next instalment of the Prizefighter Series with the Cruiserweights on April 30th," said Eddie Hearn managing director of Matchroom Sport.

"Seven of the leading UK contenders will be trying to capture the crown but to do so they will have to take out the number-three WBC contender and favourite to win Prizefighter Herbie Hide."

I think this is sad that a all-time British GREAT has to do this because no one in the top 10 wants any part of this wrecking machine. It wasn't long ago Hide was going to fight in a elimator against Matt Godfrey and now he could loss all against a silly 3 round event.....SAD!!!

I'm excited to see Herbie in this event, not sure I'd consider him an all time British great but I don think he still has the potential to do some good things.

I expect him to win this, I think he'll be rough and dirty and explosive.

Hopefully this will lead to something for him but to be honest the only way he'd get any decent fights in Britiain is if he went back up to heavyweight. Guys like Chisora, Sexton, Fury and Harrison would make for some exciting fights.

I think Hide got alot of bad press and I think he was too small to be a force at heavy...he should have started his career at cruiserweight and then he would have won titles and cleaned up......he still could do something now but he aint getting any chances....I don't know why

1.he was never at any point considered a legend
2.Herbie Hide is far from shot and some of his best performances have come while he has been out in germany

Sky will be desperate to see him win this if he does then he`ll no doubt get a slot on a friday fight night headlining every so often.

If he doesnt win it then yes he really should be calling it a day at this stage in his career.

Still convinced herbie moves back up to heavy and finishes off audley harrison

That's the worst Prizefighter line-up yet, half-saved by Hide.

He'll be a huge favourite for three KO wins. Although it wouldn't be the biggest shock to see him get chinned

It normally has more unexposed types and former champions. There's a few journymen, a few complete novices heading for careers as journeymen and Hide.

    Rubbish.

    Agreed.

Although I'm glad it puts Hide back in the spotlight. Sort of.
