Default Showtime send Legal Letter to Ward and Dirrell

During the last few weeks, there have been industry rumors that Ward and Dirrell, who are close friends, were looking for ways to avoid their scheduled fight.

Gary Shaw Said ''"breach of contract" if the fight didn't happen on one of the three date provided. And although Dirrell was quoted as saying that his fight with Ward "is being postponed," Shaw is not aware of any official postponement. Shaw disclosed that there is no finalized deal with Ward's promoter, Goossen, and no venue has been secured.

Wow does anyone think this whole event might go to shit?

Isn't it already halfway there? Sounded promising on paper but it's to long and drawn out, plus I feel like some fighters were unfairly favored by getting to fight at home on both occasions cough ward cough...

Ward absolutely dominated both guys he fought, plus he got the most difficult opponent on paper in his first fight. He could have foughten either guy anywhere in the world and he would have beat them. He was simply a vastly superior fighter.

The super six coffin has been nailed more times that the high class whore Rooney has been banging.

I think the only fight we'll see will be the Froch vs Abraham one, then maybe winner faces

Thought this prior to the kick off. Once you know individual results the contracts would be massaged and guys (more so handlers?) would look for loop holes.

Cant fault boxing as a whole just dont think they thought it through big picture. Turned into a huge fugly Christmas tree with too many decorations. Got convoluted with point system etc and might have just kept it simple. You lose...your out.? Maybe consolation for ko vs dec loss but thats it.

It was a cert the super-six wouldn't work. When a fighter wins or loses his worth goes up or down - which was always going to cause huge problems with this format.

MOST people currently regard Andre Ward as the top dog. I bet most fans would rather see him fight Bute than anyone else in the super-six.

To its credit though, It has produced some good match-ups and also highlighted just how important home advantage is, especially for fighters from different countries.

Too be fair showtime have done a good job just getting this kicked off in the first place.... it was a brave venture to begin with.

should have done it like prizefighter 3, 3 rounders on the same night

The only fight really affected by the hometown was Froch-Dirrell imo. Abraham would have sparked Taylor if they were fighting in Little Rock, Ward would have done a job on both guys regardless of where it happened. While Abraham/Dirrell and Froch/Kessler could have played out slightly differently, in both cases the correct calls were made (imo) and you trust that would happen anywhere.

Lots of people, including many American journos, thought Froch beat Dirrell. I'm almost certain Dirrell would have won in Detroit. The Kessler/Abraham abroad fights would have almost certainly had different judges, ref and most importantly different crowds reacting to the action. Abraham seemed to treat his stay in America like a holiday. He didn't even go home when the fight was postponed. Kessler's complaints about headbuts may have got more attention had 30,000 fans been backing him up with jeers and what not.

I am not saying the winners would have been any different, however the fights, even if only slight, would have played out different.
