Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on Golden Boy promotions?

I, like most others idiolsied ODLH when he was a fighter, but for some reason, I don't like him or his company as a promoter. I find myself grinning when their prospects get beat and rolling my eyes at the daft statements they put out through the press.

Luckily I can keep fighter ODLH seperate in my mind from the promoter version as not to ruin the memmory. But I'm wondering if anyone else gets a bad taste when it comes to Golden Boy?

Oscar, has a completely different persona as a promoter. As a promoter he has to be as big a liar as the rest of them because is all about the politics of boxing.

I am in the opposite boat. I didn't like ODH as a fighter. I am impressed with what he's accomplished as a promoter.

I like the concept of a couple of superstar boxers running the company.

All the crap that goes along with being a promoter is a problem with boxing, not ODH.

I'm with you, i didn't care for him so much as a fighter, but like him more now. Boxing is corrupt and he's just playing the part of his peers.

GBP started off with a concept you can not help but to love...Fighters running the company....Fighters under the promotion banner getting the loins share of their purses etc...At 1st it was in that direction but no more...they run like the rest of them and they are the biggest publicity machine in boxing and they manipulate the media in thier favor more then any other promotion company in boxing...

I haver said it once and I will again...GBP will be the biggest cancer in the history in boxing before all is through...Mosley, Hopkins and DLH do not run as much as you think...They are more facemen who get a cut I promise you....

Without getting into it just think about this....

Take 2 of GBP top men in Hopkins and Mosley...Look at their careers and how they promoted themselves and how they negotiated their purses.....The tell me that those 2 men are the ones pulling the strings at GBP?...Hopkins was MW champion for how many years before his first million dollar purse? 9? 10?

I have always like ODH except against Vargas but I like a boxer being a promoter but he is screwing them for the most money he can get off the TV companies.
