how so? if one promoter had all the rights to every fighter there would be no need to shield a fighter, seeing how they would get all the profits regardless
They could also lock out other fighters and tell fighters exactly what they were going to pay them. There would be no options or bargaining power for a fighter if one guy controlled everything. If a fighter wasnt happy with their purse they would just put them on the shelf and forget about them like King did to many fighters. Its a bad idea that will never happen. Oscar is no saint for boxing.

You're missing the point. Who's saying the UFC is a good thing? Bulldog is 100% right. UFC creates a better product for the fans but it's shit for the fighters.

Career and choice of employer options good...no options bad. Not every chef wants to work at Piccadilly.

What a douche, "I wanna be dictator of boxing" is basically what I am hearing. Pretty soon it may turn out like that, he will probably outlive all the old guys, so we need some young promoters to give him competition. He is confused I think, one commision and sanctioning body, yeah that sound cool. But one promoter..no thanks. Thats like the NFL having one agent. If there was some kind of pay structure in place across the board maybe but there isnt.

Controlling Boxing is just the beginning. Oscar got bigger ambitions than that. Oscar looking to be the first Golden President in US history. Give him 20 years. He get there.

I think you're right. High aspirations take lower steps.

Manny will be president of the Philippines by then.

Cool, they can go tag team and serve a belting on that fuk who runs North Korea.

Nice play on words there Spicoli.

You know what's funny? Fixing Boxing and bringing some order to it is just might be the harder fight for Oscar than becoming President.

Someone will shoot Oscar first if he tried to stop corruption in boxing, Sulliman may be the lone shooter.

i think de la hoya is talking out of his ass. eliminating all competition would be bad for boxing and most importantly, boxing fans. this country was founded on a free market. competition is what makes a country great. that's why countries like the united states, england, japan, germany, france, italy and others are the richest because of competition. de la hoya must be smoking wacky-tobaccy if he thinks his plan is going to happen.

Yeh Kings a walking cartoon but he and Arum always served as counter balance to one another. Competion as shown by Kings early SET ppvs which were the best I've seen. On the flip side though, both of their stubborn arses prevented some great fights from happening, network haggeling and not risking 'franchise' fighters.

A monopoly is not good. It may streamline and simplify early on but it won't last and even more quality fighters will lose 'favor' thus exposure to fans and vice versa. Unified boards and commision are the answer not a self anointed czar with a direct financial interest in contract terms and outcomes. Like ex fighters being involved big time but one man one vote gets sticky.

Getting rid of the Don Kings and the Bob Arums, and "eliminating all competition" are entirely two different things. I don't think too many people will shed a tear when Don King finally hangs them up for good. But there's other young aspiring promoters out there as well. Who the hell made Oscar God? Oh yeah... the very same ones that think his sh*t don't stink and he walks on water. How fukking predictable.
