I'm glad to see we have some new members for the DeGale club.

I thought he was very impressive. Apart from his speed and skill he fights like a cool and calm crafty vet (knows lots of little tricks).

I've never been critical of him. The only fighters ever to have annoyed me are Mijares because I knew he was well overated, and was completely vindicated. Bute and Donaire annoy me because they have reputations far exceeding their acomplishments. And David Haye because he is big, brash, confident and has an irritating swagger and probably a monstrously sized cock.

We'll add Bilbo to the SDS (although i'm sure he was DeGale detractor in the past).

I've always rated De Gale, even since his first win.

But no, I wont be joining your club. My ass still hurts from the last time!

Degale beat Paul Smith. Yes that Paul Smith. How much credit does he really deserve? Not much. I understand it was Degale 9th pro fight. And yeah Smith is a fairly tough cat with experience. But at the end of the day it don't change the fact that it was still only Paul Smith

Nah I've never really slated him. He looks like Michael Barrymore so I think of him as a bit of a sleaze and a closet gay but he's definitely a hot prospect for the future.

I very rarely will go off on any fighter really. Donaire's exalted p4p status annoys me becuase he doesn't fight anybody. But if he starts mixing it with real opposition, starting with Montiel and wins, I'll give him credit.

I'm no Miles. I'm a pretty rational and easy going guy

Being British champ means you're pretty good surely?

I though it was an excellent performance. Never been too fussed on the bloke but am coming round to being a fan of his as a fighter.

In all seriousness to beat someone of Smith's calibre after just 8 fights is impressive. There are few British fighters who have achieved that level of victory so early in their career and not gone on to be a world champ.

I could see him picking up a supermiddleweight belt within the next 18 months.

I think the division will be pretty empty by then, Froch, Ward, Bute will likely all be at 175 and DeGale will be well placed to take over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Smith the same cat who I believe fought and lost on the undercard of I believe it was Con-Gomez against some bum who had been knocked out every time stepped up? I'm also positive it was him. And I stand by my statement. Smith is not that good

I think he was great but he was in against an over rated champion who is limited, he got beat of Bendall and won close decisions against Quiqley ( Cleverly beat him in his 7th fight I think, quite easily ) and way past it Dodson, Smith has always been a bit over rated.

I think Groves is a good fight to make but a fight with Brian Mcgee will be a much bigger/better test than Smith.

But hats off to Degale went to the fellas backyard and did a number on him.
