    Default Hopkins vs. Pascal Fight Thread

    I think Pascal has the all of the tools to beat Hopkins save one and that is creativity, jab jab, jump in with the right, back away and to the right. I think Hopkins should be able to disrupt this rhythm enough to take the win by a fairly wide margin, even in Pascal's backyard. What say you?

    I think Pascal will have too much for Hopkins at this stage. I expect a close, and probably rather foul filled, spoiling fight and Pascal will struggle to look good against B Hop.

    But I think he will be able to outwork him down the stretch and win a close decision.

    I'm sure Hopkins will do a decent enough job negating Pascal's offense to be able to convince himself that he won the fight.

    I reckon scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 114-114, so a majority decision for Pascal. Obviously those scores may well see some point deductions also.

    This is why I think Hopkins takes it, he knows ALL the tricks and should be the deciding factor for me. Youth may very well prevail, I just don't think the betting favorite has as many advantages as it may seem.

    As I said in the other thread I'm not picking against Hopkins anymore. Me and my wallet had to learn the hard way a few times

    Hopkins by decision.

    Wow, seems people just aren't underestimating Hopkins anymore. I wish I could find the thread when Pavlik-Hopkins was made and nearly every single person here was against the fight even being made. I expected a reaction similar to that. If Pascal wants Bute, this is a really risky fight. That place will be great, Montreal is a great boxing city and that's all good I'll ever say about Canadians, especially French-Canadians. Yet if Hopkins shuts down the crowd early, it could really quiet that crowd and Pascal would really feel the pressure.

    I think Hopkins takes it buuut his legs in the RJJ fight for the first time in his career imo, showed signs of maybe they were becoming a little less fresh as they had previously. He showed more signs of being an old man. Still, a couple of you hit the nail on the head when you said Pascal wasn't creative enough and that Spicoli can time the right better then anybody. I don't think Pascal has much of a jab or at least one that Hopkins can't completely nullify like he's been doing to better jabbers then Pascal for years. Just a bad fight, what are the odds? Maybe a good bet on Hopkins...Pascal a 2/1 favorite.

    Pascal = -250 = 2/5
    Hopkins = +190 = 19/10

    Pascal by comfortable UD. Hopkins will put up the usual smoke and mirrors but the judges wont be buying it.

    Interested to see how Jean reacts to all the trash talk before the fight,common when you fight an American fighter. I knew Jean as an amateur when i was reffing amateur . A nice guy outside the ring made friends with everyone it seemed. He is a lifelong buddy and sparring mate of Froch. If he wins guarantee all the whining about judging and the ref. So, i hope its not close.

    I was one of those that thought Pavlik would steamroll Hopkins. That was completely wrong though.

    I'll be cheering for Jean Pascal.

    B-Hop should just enter the ring dressed like Tutankhamun.

    I could see that happening, but I figure it'll be a MD or SD.
