ABA Finals

I was at the ABA finals last week & was wondering whether anyone else from here was there or watched it on Hatton TV?

Some good match-ups even if some of the finalists were not of the same standard as of previous years.

I've long thought Charlie Edwards has all the ingredients to go all the way. I think he could be a real find for us at 2012 next year at a weightclass that we normally offer very little (Light-Flyweight), but the fact he boxed a very good kid in Mohammed Waqas from arguably the best gym in the country at the moment, didn't produce his best & still won by 26 points speaks volumes. He's also as cool a guy as you could hope to meet.

The Baker-Seddon final at LMW was an absolute cracker of a fight, and although he's not the greatest fighter in the world, if Baker goes pro in a few years I'll readily predict now that he becomes one of the most exciting domestic level guys about.

I thought Louis Adolphe got robbed at LWW against a guy formerly on the podium squad for 2012. Still a good contest though.

Also the Joshua-Abbas final at Super-HW was better than most pro contests we see at the weight. If he doesn't go to jail, watch out for Joshua, he's the future of HW boxing imo.

Definitely worth a look mate, there were some pretty good bouts particularly that Baker-Metcalf one I mentioned. Manchester didn't seem to bring as many boys through this year, just the one fella Abbas who fought Joshua in Super-Heavy final. Not known much about him, but he had some fantastic defensive skills & I thought probably edged Josh on the face of it.
