    Default Brian Viloria Back Again

Maui's own Brian Viloria defeated #6 ranked flyweight and WBO strapholder Julio Cesar Miranda in a spirited battle on Oahu last night. Miranda got dropped early but got off the floor to cut Viloria and get back in the fight in the second half. Two of the three judges had it very close. A buddy of mine who saw it thought the first round knockdown made the difference but that Viloria and Miranda both fought very well.

Viloria is one of those guys who just hasn't handled success well in terms of staying focused and disciplined, but he handles adversity exceedingly well. The Hawaiian Punch is now 30, old for a little man, and can afford no more unforced errors.

The talk over here is perhaps Viloria has earned a shot at Giovanni Segura, the conqueror of Iron Boy Calderon.

The only footage I can find is of round twelve.

I think only Marino was ever a true champion. My God could Andy Ganigan punch. Had there been a gazillion straps in his time he'd have won a couple is my guess. Viloria, when he's on? Is a fine fighter. But very erratic.

I suppose Marino, Viloria, Ganigan, Salud in that order?

But I am really guessing here. What's your take?

I've come around on Viloria but his defensive lapses are etched in stone. He is fun TV as they say. I think he falls into shoot out with Segura and gets tko'd. Salud was as solid as they come, bigger, great composure and ring smarts with chin of stone. He'd whip Viloria.

I have Salud ahead of Ganigan because i have read a source before that he's a WBA 130 champion for 6 yrs. That's along reign. but i double checked on boxrec and its not recorded there. with that i have it exactly like yours.

Marino - A Clear Best of his division in his time
Villoria - 3 Time champion whether we all like it or not
Ganigan - He's a killer puncher, too bad Arguello still got up.

Sorry but I persist in my never ending battle on the dilution of the word "champion."

If Dado has one, then Brian has zero.
