    Default Shumenov Stops Santiago

#9 ranked 175 Beibut Shumenov stopped journeyman Danny Santiago in round nine. Shumenov launched a thirteen punch combination that drove Santiago to the ropes where Shumenov launched another 8 punch fusillade and the referee stepped in. The video below is of round nine only. Check out the raccoon eyes Santiago has going into the ninth round.

Shumenov likes to let his hands go. Judging by the opponents he picks, he especially likes doing that with nothing coming back his way. I have only seen him in a couple of fights but I am curious to see if he will be so carefree against a puncher. Don't mean to be harsh but he hasn't exactly clawed his way to the top.

Well he's only fought a dozen times, so he's pretty far from the top at this point. I thought he lost the rematch with Campillo, the best guy he's faced. I'll say this though, you fight Beibut? You'd better be in shape and ready to go all night.

I think there's some really good matchups to be made in the light heavies at the moment, would just like to see them happen. Shumenov looks fairly crude when he launched into that final flurry that stopped it, but big engine and high volume of hard punches.

Hopkins, Cleverly, Pascal would all fancy a shot at Shumenov I think, but whether he can step it up once he goes to the next level, hopefully we can find out fairly soon.

I wasn't very clear. Shumenov has a belt (whatever that means), he is in the top ten and he is being mentioned more often in the light heavyweight discussion. The thing about his style I was commenting on was, in the fights I have watched, he is so aggressive he is almost disrespectful to his opponents. He just kind of lets his hands go and marches in, hands low, no head movement, firing right after left. I don't think that style will hold up against better competition. I have been impressed with Sillakh so far.

I want to see a rubber match against Campillo, or nothing else is valid.

Shumenov v. Erdei is a good fight at light heavyweight.

Shumenov is nothing special imo. Ones he gets in the ring with a decent boxer or a high volume puncher ( like Campilo) he will lose agian . And yeah, the second fight with Campillo was a huge robbery.
