    Default Jimmy Saville

I did not realise Jimmy had died.

One of the things I have never understood about Saville is why he is regarded as such a legend. I mean he presented TOTP's, fixed the dreams of some kids and did a bit of DJ'ing. But is that it? He was an eccentric for sure, but I don't understand why he is so revered.

It's a bit weird to me. Am I missing something?

what about the millions he raised for charity doing marathons till he was about 108

and he would go back and porter at the hospital in his spare time to help out when he was a millionaire

in Leeds he is a legend so watch your mouth you Korean based cunt !!!!!!!

Fair enough, but money raising is rarely ever enough to make someone a legend.

He made some money for charity off of being a TV presenter, but Jimmy Saville is clearly very overrated.

He never actually did anything. I could play tiddlywinks for charity, but nobody would ever regard someone as the tiddlywinks charity raiser.

He was a weird old guy who smoked cigars and wore shell suits.

He never made albums nor wrote great literature. I just don't get him.

I see nothing great about that. I hate attacking a dead man, but he just seems incredibly tacky and had no real skills nor anything to say.

i heard a rumour there was once a bloke you didn't launch a cynical critical attack on.

I think it was just a rumour....

True and I actually have nothing against Saville who was probably an alright fellow, but I just don't understand the platitudes. Just a minor celeb who died. He is no different to Anne Diamond in that regard, probably a lovely person, but has made no real difference. I always regard difference as producing or creating something and raising money for charity is quite easy if you are a minor celebrity.

If he had made a classic album or made a speech I would care, but he has never done any of that.

Exactly, a very weird man. Maybe quite generous, but a seriously odd type.

    Never really did anything.

    Me?

Yes, I did. It showed a rather demented old man in shell suits who didn't seem to do very much. He liked talking though.
