Default Rios had not eaten for 5 days prior to the Murrey fight

Just read on ESPN (link below) that Brandon Rios had not eaten for 5 days in the lead up to the Murrey fight at the weekend to try and make weight and only had drank a few ounces of water in 2 days.

How the hell did he have enough energy to fight let alone get the win
He definitely needs to move up in weight

No excuse for that. If it's too hard to make weight then just go up and beat the fuck out of Amir Khan.

if this is true then well done to him, although he was in command it was still a tough fight with Murray. For somebody who hadn't eaten for 5 days he seemed to have a lot of energy for the fight. He needs to move up straight away and get involved in the 140 mix. Maidana wouldn't be scared to fight him and that fight would be a war !!! let it happen please

I just can't congratulate someone who in my eyes is that sacred of fighting guys his own size...!

I mean Mayweather's last fight at 130 required him to starve himself for two days and he is now at 147, I'm sure based on that Logic that Brandon should be fighting at Light Middleweight, easily!

That's just dumb! Dumb shit for a trainer to allow and for a fighter to do. You can tell by looking at him, he's thick all over and soft in the middle. The way he tajes to give that can only lead to him getting ktfo. Move your ass up already cause your biological clock could care less about some trinket.

it sounds more like damage control to me, he struggled more than they expected and now are trying to give an excuse for it, if he did in fact have to go so long without eating then he obviously should be moving up, and not just one division

And my boy bambam still fucked him up, possibly shortening murrays career. Murray will not be the same after that ass whoopin. Murray is finished. Not that he was ever gonna be a major threat at 135 but hell probably be a gatekeeper from now.

That doesn't sound healthy, he looked like he just got off his death bed at the weigh in. He needs to move up to 140, I want to see him brawl with maidana.

This was supposed to be a total mismatch and it ended up being a closer than expected fight. It's not a huge accomplishment for Rios. It just served the purpose of showing that Rios can't fight at 135 anymore.

I do not think Rios tried to make weight at the end think he played up a lot on looking weak and trying to get Murray to think he could beat him.

he shouldn't have been at 135 for a while now. He weighed 150 in the ring in one of his televised fights in the past year. 150!! When everyone else that walks into the ring who weighs in at 135, weigh around 143-145 or so.

He is the same size as junior welters and he has been killing himself to make weight.

Absolutely has to move up...but credit to him for fighting so well against Murray. I can't help but feel Joe Gallagher made a number of mistakes surrounding the fight, most notably letting Murray take at least 1 round too much of a beating.

You guys do realize Rios is exaggerating and that AFTER he made weight, or didn't make weight I should say, he could and probably did eat as much as he wanted to. Its not like he starved himself and didn't eat anything then fought Murray.
