    Default Yuriorkis Gamboa

I haven't been following boxing for quite sometime, but i've been catching up on Gamboa's fights. I was pretty impressed how he handled Salido, considering Salido pretty much gave Lopez two one sided beatings. He also has a good win over De Leon who went pretty much even with Broner.

I've seen pretty much every Gamboa fight, because he was such an exciting fighter. But now he seem's to pick his spots better and fight more technical, but i've heard he's moving up in weight to fight Rios ?

I haven't seen a whole lot of Rios but i have seen a few of his fights here and there, and from my memory he's a brawler with a good chin, but sylistically it seem's like he will get eaten alive by Gamboa.

What's your thoughts on Gamboa vs Rios and on Gamboa as a fighter ?

Agreed mostly, he's on of my favourite fighters these days no question. People held his chin or chances at top level in general as more suspect than Lopez's, which I always found weird. He makes Juanma look like Mayweather in their last few fights; as you've said I think he's fighting a lot smarter than he was in early days, plus he has already shown he can take a good shot and stay composed.

Apparently the Rios fight won't actually happen as Gamboa had never signed anything, unless that has changed quite recently. I think he would have likely whipped Rios', but it was definetly an odd matchup considering he's never fought above 126. If that fight does happen Rios only has size on him going into the ring, I don't think he's on the same planet as a fighter personally.

Gamboa decided to pull out of the fight with Rios the day of the press conference, a month before the fight.

He's a dirtbag for pulling that move.

He's been hanging out with Mayweather, likely learning nothing positive.

Well what's next for Gamboa? That's if the fight witAdrien Bronerh Rios don't happen! Considering he can fight anywhere from 126 to 140.

    vs Guzman at 140
    vs Linares at 135
    vs Anthony Peterson at 135
    vs Adrien Broner at 130
    vs Chris John at 126
    vs Jhonny Gonzalez at 126
vs Celestino Caballero at 126 or 130

By the way, how do you see these fights going?

Who knows what was really going on there though.. Who promotes Rios? If his people had been trying to push that fight forward without having ever getting anything in writing from Gamboa then maybe he was just getting back at them somehow etc.

They are promoted by the same dude, Mr Bob Arum... which in my opinion makes it even weirder that they could not agree or what the hell went down.

Everybody has been talking about the fight for a few months. There's no way in hell that Gamboa didn't hear about it.
