    Heya man,
I just thought reply to this as you seem to have been left hanging.

For me, in most athletic pursuits "the abdomen" is relatively useless- you have to improve the entire core to improve performance. This is also true in boxing.
However, in boxing- unlike many sports, the abdomen has its importance too- it needs to be conditioned so as to endure what it will be put through.
So I compliment my training with Core and abdominal work. Core is to improve performance, Abdomen for endurance (and aesthetics )
    7 days in a week

7 Upper Tier of Abs; Crunches, Rev Hypers
    1 Corework; Sideplanks, Glute/Ham Curls
2 Oblique Abdomen; Anti Rotational work
3 Corework; Weighted/destabilised planks, back extensions, Glute Bridges.
4 Lower Tier Abdomen; Hanging Leg Raises, Rev. Hypers
    5 Corework; Sideplanks, Glut/Ham Curls.
6 Rest and Suffer in DOMS.

Also it should be noted I read a wonderful article- I believe it may have been Creasy on T Nation??
    He stated that the development of the abdomen can only be optimized by seeing to all of the four;
    1) Anti-extension
    2) Anti-Rotation
    3) Anti-lateral flexion
    4) Flexion

I don't completely agree with Flexion at all, but for boxing it does develop great punch resistance in the abdomen.
But, anyone who trains seriously is working their core and abdomen all the time....
If its the aesthetic a guy is after, its kitchen work really.
