Re: Amir Khan vs Danny Garcia What A Fight Spoilers.
Khan showed us what we already knew - that he is really speedy, with good technique and he was putting combinations together very well in the first few rounds. He got hit with a good shot and it totally scrambled him, he was all over the place and the fight was over from that first knockdown. Can't fault his courage, but ........
He doesnt have enough power to compensate for his weak chin, so guys can almost walk through his shots, knowing that they just need to land a couple of good shots on him. Tommy Hearns didnt have the best chin, but nobody could gamble on walking through his shots to reach his chin. I think any future opponent of Khan's is going to be able to take heart from that.
Also, I couldn't help noticing that in his sparring, he was going to war with a novice amateur in the gym, and he didnt look good doing it. Why do things in the gym that you dont want to do in the fight, as you will fall into that habit when you're under pressure. Also, Khan was still PUSHING in sparring and in the fight. If you get docked points for doing that, then STOP DOING IT. His training should have been about ironing out that habit, and they clearly didnt work on it.
Kahn can't fight hurt, he shows his courage and stands toe to toe trying to gut it out. He should have been training to fight hurt, back off, hold, fiddle until your head clears.
Khan was a gifted amateur, a good technician and I'm not sure what he has added since being a pro to be honest. Where does he go from here?
