I hate those actions too, but here just isnt the place.
Do we all know his history? I dare say not all reading this forum do, and stating this is not the place is like writing an obituary for Hitler and concentrating on his art work, vegetarianism and commission of the Volkswagon beetle.

The time for stating your thoughts is firstly when they are alive, second is when they are stone cold and laid to rest.

I deleted it because those closest to him could read these things and they are up set already and it just adds to their sorrow in their time of mourning.

His history is there for the reading in that very first post, it is in that very first link.

You want to make a thread about him in a couple of weeks with other fighters misgivings go right ahead. Again now isnt the time.

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

Anyone remember him sparring with Muhammad Ali ? i think he was only like 19 or 20. Muhammad Ali played with him but what a moment it must of been for M.Dokes. R.I.P to him as everyone else as already said the fight with E.Holyfield was a slugfest never to be forgotten.

Only heard about him sparring with Ali through this thread. He must have been very talented to have done that at such an early age. Seemed to have had it all. Sad story should have turned out way better than it did.

He was 18 at the time and they say it was an Exhibition Match. It went the 12 or 15 round distance too I believe.

I've never seen it, but what a rush to be an 18 year old having an exhibition match with Muhammad Ali !
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

ı am ıgnorant of hıs drug problems---what I DO remember was fondly hearıng I thınk Gıl Clancy mentıonıng that Mıchael Dokes was a really great and talented chef---an experıenced and praısed cook! and that he had the tendency due to thıs talent to over-eat. Guess he really cooked up some great dıshes.
