Joe was a handsome, articulate and funny man.

Great clip, never seen this before. Joe still calls Ali, Clay so there is no love lost there and he did not want to say his war with Ali contributed to his loss to Foreman.

Foreman fight v Joe was on ABC?

foreman would beat alı ın a rematch as ıt was already 1976 and alı could not have performed as well as he dıd ın zaıre by that tıme. foreman would have destroyed alı as foreman was punchıng very relaxedly and very straıght as cosell commented. gıl clancy really changed hıs style and he would have destroyyed alı ın 1976.

Seeing Joe with a shaved head is weird.

Joe was finished after just losing to Ali, George was active but Ali was more active in 1976 and put in a lot of victories, even if some of them were close.

I saw Smokin' Joe as a guest on Friday Night Fights a few years back, i couldn't understand a word he said and i don't think he knew what he was saying either.
Boxing can be a cruel sport, but people can be cruel to boxers and so many continue on way past their used by date.
As Benny said, he was a nice man, he was a great champion and you can clearly see here that he was humble and acknowledged defeat like a true champion.

The outcome of Frazier vs Foreman didn't surprise anyone. The two things I remember about that fight was the way Frazier's legs deserted him and Howard screaming "Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!". I felt sorry for Joe, that knockdown with him suspended in the air must have been replayed a thousand times in the next month or so! I have to admit, I watched a lot of them.

Circle of boxing life, George got Ali to hand it to him, Ali to Holmes to Tyson to Holyfield to Lewis.
