Hello ICB et al:
No one but ICB saw this? This movie is one of the best I've seen recently. It's approximately 90 mins long, and possibly 80 of that length is all action!!
Star Iko Uwais teams up with director Gareth Evans for a second time. Their first project "Merantau" was IMO so-so. Perhaps I expected an Indonesian "Ong Bak" or something, or the Silat (indonesian martial arts) filmed was not what I expected (kickboxing to my expectations of leverage throwing/takedowns). Perhaps I expected more of the "Kerambit" (south-east asian knife) in the rest of the movie and not just the opening where Uwais did a form with the kerambit.
This 2nd teamup by the two should not be missed if you are action movies fan. Plot is simple, perhaps it was homage to Bruce Lee's Game of Death... a 20 man SWAT team inifiltrates a drug lord's 30 story building to capture him alive. Drug lord has his henchmen on top of the residents (who was offered free rent if they kill the SWAT team) vs 20 cops. Refreshing to watch the a scene with the use of a PR-24 baton (police version of 'tonfa', the Okinawan/Japanese karate weapon) paired with a knife.
Please if you call yourself an action movies fan, WATCH THIS!
