Default What are the WBO doing - regarding Ricky Burns

Statement on WBO Lightweight Division | WBO ... -division/

Was Kevin Mitchell not the WBO no1 contender??

Are the WBO trying to force Ricky into the Broner fight, Broner will probably fight DeMarco next so why make this daft statement about having to face the mandatory contender. Take a guess who the 2 is??

Its Kevin Mitchell....so are the WBO gonna force Burns to face Mitchell again lol, well hes number 2 and should move to number 1 if Broner fights for the WBC title

Ricky Burns' Mandatory Options: Gonzalez, Kim or Rees? - Boxing News

The World Boxing Organization has ordered lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) to make a mandatory defense in his next fight. Based on the availability of the top ten contenders, the most probable opponents include - Jose A. Gonzalez (20-0, 15KOs and ranked at 4), Ji-Hoon Kim (24-7, 18KOs and ranked at 7) and Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 18KOs and ranked at 8.

Gonzalez defends the WBO Latino title against Eudy Bernardo (13-0, 8KOs) on October 6th. If he wins, his promoter Puerto Rico Best Boxing has no problems with doing business with Burns' promoter Frank Warren.

Adrien Broner is ranked at number one but he is already heading for a WBC title shot against Antonio DeMarco on November 17. Last Saturday, Burns knocked out the boxer ranked at two, Kevin Mitchell. Ranked at number three is Sharif Bogere, who has a November fight scheduled for the WBA title against Richard Abril.

WBO doesn't want Burns ducking Broner a second time

After Ricky Burns last performance and the fact that Broner is really struggling making lightweight I think Ricky beats Broner wherever it happens. To think I though Burns had avoided Broner when he moved up in weight but in reality he has got stronger and now would have a strong chance of beating Broner if they fought in Scotland.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

Broner's yet another naturally-talented punk who disregards boxing's traditions and rules.

I agree, he has gotten better with time and is one of the lucky few whoseems to be developing a bit more of a punch as time progresses. Lots love up in weight and leave their powere behind, Burns was never hard hitter but seems to have found a punch now. I also don't think he's the type to dodge anyone, a lot of people are pissed because someone outside of the US is starting to come good.
