Default a peak before a slide

looking back at some fighters careers they seem to have a peak fight or a last hurrah, a top performance and a level they never really hit again

ill give you an example of a peak fight

Kevin Mitchell fought Bredis Prescot and boxed his ears off for 12 rounds, it was a brilliant display. After that fight i really saw him as a world class fighter, a definate future world champ

yes since he has had a good win over john murray but that was just a fight, for me Mitchell hasnt produced that prescott sort of performance since and its looking like he never will again

    and a last hurrah example

Shane Mosley had a very good career at the top and then seemed to become the fighter the top guys fight on the way to the very top if you get me

Mosely then fought margarito in a fight he was suppose to lose, a very good first defence for margarito

yep all the shit happened around the fight, but that was the last time we saw Shane put in a massive performance

Mosley and Roy Jones Jr. are two that spring straight to mind.

Jones looked edit: UNtouchable versus Clinton Woods, a very solid fighter (who went on to be a pretty good champ) and then moved up and white washed John Ruiz... We all know the story from there.

Normally a fighter will have a peak performance and have a gradual decline in their performance such as Julio Ceaser Chavez or Terry Norris rather than a dramatic fall like Tyson.

A last hurrah would be Larry Holmes beating Ray Mercer.

You never know what a fighters peak is until after the slide and decline. Julias Francis had a revival when he beat an undefeated Danny Williams, Pele Reid and another decent fighter that he was expected to lose. After he got demolished by Tyson he went back to normal losing most of his fights. Rogan beat Skelton and Audley was his peak.
