I never realized that jersey joe walcott had been a ref before the Ali Liston fight for some strange reason I always thought the phantom punch fight was the only one he done.... not sure if i read that somewhere or because of the his ineptness in that fight just led me to think that.

turns out he had reffed quite a few before and then didn't ref another one after that till the 1978 (13 years after the liston fiasco)

Someone allowed him back into the ring!!!

I don't rate Liston, Ali saw it, he was beatable.

Like Foreman, I think people were beaten before they got in the ring with Liston.

That is harsh on Liston. Sonny was the dawn of the 200lb plus heavyweight and was a monster at the time. Jersey was very skilled but would have been small so think Sonny would have won with his ram rod jab alone. Ali was a tough man and is unique.
