Default Do you think Floyd Mayweather Jr. will retire undefeated?

This is just something I've been thinking about recently having read comments from Guerrero saying he thinks Floyd doesn't have the legs anymore. Not many fighters know when it is time to leave the sport so retiring undefeated doesn't happen very often. Floyd is probably the greatest fighter of his era and we all know how important that '0' is to him.

In my mind I can't see who is going to beat Floyd but boxers get old and diminish sooner or later. Do you think he'll retire with his undefeated record still in tact or do you think he'll risk it for too long?

    I don't think so simply because.......MONEY

Floyd will fight for sooooo long, I reckon he'll retire then come back for money.

    Sooner or later he'll lose.

obviously if he gets out at the right time he will

It all depends on how long he keeps fighting, greed or ego will get him if he doesn't pull a Marciano. I don't have high hopes for him, Floyd is ALL about the attention these days.
Broner is the only fighter who craves it more.

I don't think the available welterweight division is very deep right now and Floyd appears hesitant as of late to venture into junior middleweight/middleweight territory so, to answer your question, yes, I think it is quite possible. Trout, Lara, Canelo (all GB) are bigger challenges than Guerrero, as is Maravilla, GGG etc. However, frankly, even if he did take on some of those guys at 154, I think he has a solid chance at beating them too.

He definitely won't retire undefeated. Even if he does manage to retire undefeated two or three years from now he'll blow through his money and need to make a comeback at some point.

I think he could if he stays at 47. If he goes to 154 he could hit a road block. Guerrero believes Floyds legs are gone because Roach and a few hbo dingbats have put it out there over that last couple of years.
His legs are not gone and he still fights better off the back foot then anyone in the sport by a long shot.
He has simply adjusted his tactics and is fighting smarter late in his career.

If they haven't gone then they're definitely going. He wasn't standing and trading with Cotto all the time because he enjoys being punched in the face. And getting punched in the face a lot more than you used to doesn't seemt o me to be something you can accurately describe as "fighting smarter".

He let Cotto in the fight and chose to go into the corner. Cotto did not steer him there. He was about to go to jail so maybe he was trying to make a point I don't know. I agree though that he did not fight smart.

I think he can retire undefeated. Coming back is a different story.
With a 6 fight deal and a promise to stay busy, here's Floyd schedule IMO . . .
    Guerrero May '13
    JMM End of '13
    Khan Cinco DE Mayweather '14
    Bradley(if he somehow keep winning)
    Pacman
    Garcia

Coming back isn't retiring so if you voted "yes" kill yourself.

If we see him fight in a similar way next month I think we can say for certain his legs have gone.

I don't know about undefeated but I get the feeling he'll draw out a match with Canelo like a long winded 70's rock ballad. He'll make him sweat (if he beats Trout ) and can see him going Guerrero, Khan (he was prestaged for Floyd), and going trinket grabbing vs Molina-Smith winner. Bradley needs to right the ship. Guerrero may be a huge underdog but if Mayweathers legs are not what they were, who's are , Guerrero will show it.
