He had such a great voice. Inspirational for so many blues and soul singers that came after him and somewhat eclipsed in his own work as a trailblazer with those that followed with often rather mediocre impressions. B.B.King once said "If I could sing like Bobby Blue, then I would be a happy Man." He was there at the birth of soul music, he helped it evolve from the plaintive wailing of the old blues men to the smooth style we all know today. He was inspired by Aretha Franklin's father, Reverend CL and kept that gospel squall as an integral part of a voice that could melt you from a thousand paces. R.I.P Bobby.
