Default Why is Scott Quigg boxing for a vacant title?

Scott Quigg holds the WBA interim Super Bantamweight title.

With the title being vacated, why is Scott not upgraded to full champion status?

    Good Question.

On another boxing site it says

The WBA will hold a purse bid for the mandatory fight for their vacant super bantamweight title between interim champ Scott Quigg and Cuban challenger Yoandris Salinas.

The bid will be held on July 15 at 11:00 am at the World Boxing Association offices in Panama City.

The minimum purse bid will be $120,000 and the money will be distributed 50/50 as the fight is for the vacant title.

If Quigg is theInterim champ he should automaticly be upgraded to champion if the title becomes vacant.

Obviously the wba like sanctioning fees and have no problems having a super, interim and normal champ all at the same time.

The fight will be for the regular title, Rigondeaux is still the WBA unified champion.

Essentially it's the runner up prize.

The moment Rigo chose to unify, the WBA made him super duper champion thus making the regular world title vacant and the interim title holder or champion in waiting eligible to fight for it since "interim" champion really means number 1 contender.

Next week they are putting on a find Waldo conference.

What a joke, "super champion". All that does is make the regular title in this case meaningless and degrade what Rigondeaux did. Is this the norm for the WBA moreso than the other alphabet gangs these days? Hard to even give a damn anymore.

The IBF are the only body that doesn't have it.

But the WBC and WBO only have it at super lightweight / Jr welterweight.

    Don't ask me why.
